Seyi makinde is trying his best na water pass garri. But the impression we were given was that the street lights are also powered by solar. Gov Seyi is an Engineer he know the camparative advantage of diesel to solar. I think the whole truth is not yet said. But give it to Gov Seyi he is sincerely doing what he can. The Blue whatever company is sounding malicious. But Gov Seyi can do a lot better. Ibadan is just like the internet, ibadan does not forgive.

Blue camel, why did you avoid Lagos and go to Oyo? Why did you avoid our lagos where generator is being used to power our street light? No be only makinde oo.

Na you cause yourself the insult. Why go PDP domain knowing fully well that you belong to the apc . See the states where you installed your solar lighting, any pdp states among them? Next time you'd mind whom you approach for business.

Go to ebonyi state and see the amount of desiel allocated to only street light in a day, who powers street light in 21st century with desiel ,when we told sum pple in ebonyi that it's not sustainable they called us name, the next govt in ebonyi will not sustain it

There is a twitter comment to the effect that people are stealing the solar panels and batteries

Also what is the deployment cost?

Let's say battery is 50k, controls are 20,solar panel 50k.
That is an additional 120k per floodlight.

These numbers add up. And that does not include maintenance. You have to clean the solar panel periodically. And your battery may be gone in 18 months

It isnt as cut and dried as these bad businesspeople are making it out to be

You dey mind those olodos. Blue camel or whatever they call themselves should have also called out Lagos and Ogun and other states who use Generator presently to power theirs too but they choose to only shout on Oyo. It is all part of of political propaganda for next year. They want to get Oyo at all costs.

When people shout solar you start thinking it is so perfect yet we don't have industries that use it. Even telecommunications company do NOT use it. They use Diesel abi na corruption they do they do?

OYSG already has a plan to put over 60 percent of street lighting on the state Power plant powered by Gas before the end of the year. And currently what is being used by the contractor for this for the diesel do not come at any cost to the state government.

Before now,Ibadan and the whole of Oyo state is a dark as a jungle at night before the Light up came up. Yet they are still ranting. Na so them go rant till forever.

Useless people

Why won't they go for diesel when Nigerians are thieves ..

Just like all the solar street lights installed in some major roads in Uyo

All have been vandalized... Non is working

Except the generator powered ones ...

Same for all the abokis stealing manhole covers....

Exposing drainages

The city is currently been messed up by foreigners ...

Too many people are rushing into the city

Exactly my point!
The thing is, if the govt had embraced solar, the same people would come out to criticize that they're of low quality. Solar wouldn't be bright always.

I don't think blue camel has the right to criticize Oyo state government for failure to accept their project's proposal. The act is unprofessional and laced with envy. Using their account to tweet has exposed further their shameful act. It's like when a seller is accusing a customer or potential customer of not buying from his/her store. No be by force to buy na.

Meanwhile, It amazes me how some people still hail the current government of Oyo state whose performance has been abysmal in all sectors. Everything in the state is static and depleting badly, from infrastructure, security, economic to basic amenities.

Imagine using combustible ( fuel) to power street light when a remote village in Burkina Faso uses solar powered street light on their transport routes. There are crazy set of people in this country mehn!

Solar power wey dem go thief?

First,we need to change our mindset in this country,a country where traffic light is obeyed only when the traffic police is there.

I’ve seen solar powered street lights go dim within a month

don't mind them...the guy attack the state government from the area of cost...he deliberately removed the fact that the government has previously installed solar panels that wasn't bright, it also went dim in a very short time...the panels were prone to theft and required daily cleaning due to the nature of Nigeria's dusty road....

solar panels powered lamps can never deliver the same illuminating power as diesel powered ...

this Smart LED currently in use if fvcking bright. I was doing video call with my cousin who lived around ring road...it looks like day light when he stood under one of those bulbs.

That Blue Camel abi Blue Boat Butter company is jealous.
And it's jealousy that ll kill them.

My friend, you are not wise (no offense)

If you're, you ought to know that an extremely sun scorched Nigeria as a country in this particular age , should not be dependent on fossil fuels to generate electricity.

Solar is cheaper on the long run and a more better energy conserver.

solar illuminating power is far lower than diesel or gas powered LED....

its a 300km street light project...who go dey rent hiyab of 120k everyday to climb up for cleanimg of solar panels...?? How many hiyabs will they rent to clean more than 20,000 lamps across the state??

all the states solar lamps were installed eventually failed...even this same oyo state has used it years ago.....

there are other conditions in play...solar is not without its drawbacks..

with more than 20,000 lamps installed across the state...who will climb up to clean panels installed on each pole..nigeria is full of dust..

. climbing up requires hiyab or cherry picker..those machines a rented out at 100-150k per day....how many will they rent to clean those panels across the state..

. I've seen both solar powered lamps and diesel or gas powered LED...its like comparing sleep to death....

I get that solar will eliminate cost of diesel...but the cost of maintaining it to get the best out of it is also there...
...i feel the government weighed the costs of maintainimg both..probably found out they are the same or even slight close and went for gas/diesel becos the illuminating power is better..

Once all this APC miscreants see or hear any good news about Oyo state they will want to use one of their useless bad news to cover it.

Yesterday one of their foot soldiers attack those that are coming from the opening of bus terminal.

Today they started bringing all sorts of propaganda on internet just to discredit Oyo state but we are use to their propaganda.

Why should a state government sign off on using desiel generators to power ordinary street lights?

Of course someone has to make money out of the desiel and generator maintenance contract.

Nigerians are seasoned experts at cheating eachother. From top to bottom.

It's never about service, it's always about how to rip off the other person or make more for myself.

Why can’t the someone also make money out of the solar and maintenance contract?
Since you know that it’s not about service, can you please answer the above question

No single Nigerian political will make Heaven

Will any single Nigerian, who allows the evil politicians into office at the national, state and local level in the legislative and executive arms, make heaven?

Easier to keep inflating and under cutting diesel prices than solar.

Besides, the crooks didn't want to go through the stress. Like water, thieves tend to take the path of least resistance.

How can Seyi Makinde decide to power streetlight with Mikano generator instead of Solar panels in 2022

Well he gave PDP and Atiku some shares of Oyo State loot through Mikano Generators and diesel supply

As long as Atiku, Elite and PDP are in charge of Power distribution companies, Generator importation, Trailer Transport logistics and own most diesel tank farms Nigeria isn't going anywhere.

Is that why every street in Ajegunle, Ijora Badiya, Okokomaiko, Isolo etc of Lagos state is having street lights working prepre all night
