again, i am giving you "my humble opinion" on the issue. i am not telling you whether it is right/wrong/legal or not, nor am i telling anyone to stop being mistresses /2nd wife. some women desperately need a man and will gladly accept to be a mistress or 2nd wife, while others aint that desperate for a man/marriage.

The funny thing about those defending Yul is the trick they use. The trick involves them labelling all of Yul's critics hypocrites, and once they have done that, they then take the moral high ground, and defend the benefits of polygamy (At least we are not hypocritical like you moralist, we are genuine).

Well, first off, not all of us who blast Yul are sleeping around, male or female. We blast Yul because we are appalled at the fact that a woman who gave him nearly 2 decades of her life, and who also was not a drain on him was betrayed by him. That is not right, and if May had done the same and betrayed Yul with another man, that would have been not right too. Betrayal is wrong, especially in marriage. So also lying. If Yul wanted to be a polygamist, he should have informed May before getting her pregnant, and then she would have known where she stands with him. (I have told the story of a female friend of a relative of mine who broke up with her first boyfriend, despite the guy being her ideal man, because he told her that he was going to be a polygamist, and add other women after he marries her. She said no, and they parted amicably. ).


But even if all the women who bash Yul are sleeping around with married men, or are side chicks, or the 24th girlfriend of the local Cassanova, or have a string of 100 boys who love them, the fact is, they bash Yul because 1) either they were open about who they were with their boyfriends/ sex partners from the word go that they were promiscous and they were going to stay that way...Yul married his wife in a catholic church, and made her believe that he was going to be a monogamist...when he was a hypocritical polygamist. 2) They are suffering the side effects of polygamy...damaged relationships, pain, jealousy, rancor, etc etc.....and they feel for May 3) they were betrayed.

If there is a hypocrite in this saga, it is Yul. He married his wife in a church, under the assumption that he was going to be monogamous. Now, say what you will about religion, that it is a construct, that it is what the whites brought us, that it is not our African culture (more on that later...) that it is fake...the fact is, until Yul comes out to say that he has left the Catholic church, he is still under its teachings...and the church...I am not a member by the way....last I checked...teaches and emphasizes monogamy.So, by having an affair and marrying a second wife, he is showing the whole world that the vows he took in church were a lie and thus...he is a good hypocrite.



And for those shouting African culture.....African culture included things like slavery, slave trade, kidnapping, human sacrifice (yes, human sacrifice), burying slaves alive with their masters (yes, it happened), infanticide (killing of twins), child marriage (not just the muslim north, other parts too ) and 'trial by ordeal' sans evidence...among other things. If you can defend polygamy as 'African culture; then come and defend all the other stuff too...and don't tell me ye cannot.


Yul has betrayed his wife. Maybe he will regret it. Maybe he will not. At the end, life goes on. But as for me, I ain't defending him, and I ain't following his example, and if that makes me a hypocrite...standing for what I think is right, ok.
