Dont worry, technology advancement have really slowed down when it comes to optical media. Almost a decade and nothing to replace Blue Ray Disk yet lol, in comparison it took less than a decade for the cassette to DVD shift.

I know streaming services like Netflix seems to be the future media consumption, but that isn’t likely to replace gaming anytime soon due to latency issues.

It didn't favour them much because immediately piracy gained enough ground people didn't see the need to go about renting from them anymore when they could just buy and own a CD for #100, mind you before piracy a CD cost at least #1000 or so which was why people go out to rent from these guys back then. Meanwhile one could pick about 5 movie CDs and and not pay up to #500 for 3days or so.

Dvd now spoilt everthing.You can have 5+ movies on a dvd for a small fee.

In my street, a CD was sold for about N1500 then. But we were allowed to rent for N100 and return with no scratch.

Then, producers will always use Osuofia or Ibu to warn against pirating the movie. Lol.

But my guy and I then always copied to our diskette and resold for N200...until we saved and bought a harddisk of 1tb then.

I'll carry my heavy Dell laptop everywhere I had a deal. Lol. I sold games, movies, and apps.


We were making up to N10k daily. We were big boys.

We even transferred to the phones of those who could afford a phone. We also flashed phones and all that.


Then we bought GameBoy and Playstation and set up a game house for N50 per match for a game less than 3 minutes. And their addiction makes one person pay up to N1k. Lol. We go home with over N15k daily. We were celebrities and all those girls with oversized blouses wanted us.


During that period of Nnnena, I made over N150k in a day then...cos I had the full movie so those who the suspense of the movie caught, and who were impatient bought it for N3000. Lol. I encrypted it so you can't share it. I sold other Soap Operas too.

In fact, people were always calling me for movies, games, and apps. People I transacted with introduced their friends since I encrypted most of my softwares with passwords, and the inability to share. That was my strategy.


The days of 2go too na so we go crack 2go remod...we no dey buy GoCredit again. We resold for N3k. Made over N500k. Lol

You see technology? Just be ahead of the current trend and you'll be making money.

When I was small if the movie stay more than a day in your hand, when returning it, you will pay for demurrage.

That period that word sounds like doomerage as the person is doom for keeping it more than the agreed time frame.

At a point we named that video renting centre doomerage, like "Chiboy go and rent movie at Oga Doomerage video centre .

Though the shop owner named his shop Bonx video shop but we prefer Doomerage bkus the former sounds like what we eat everyday as kids.

Demurrage doesn't apply here, only in shipping pls. Word has been seriously misused.
