You are confused, your topic has no basis, but from all Inducations, it's assumed you were trying to buttress a point that the uk is a more expensive place to live in than Naija.

If you do this, you have to factor in wages and see if that compensates the high cost
AND the benefit of this COST ONLY ANALYSIS is for people who work remotely and people called DIGITAL NOMADS who dont depend on the country they live in for their wages BUT with this cost anaysis between two countries they can say okay its cheaper to live in this country so let me move to this country where my money will stretch more. you gerrit ? there is a section of society who work remotely and would benefit from this cost analysis in finding cheaper countries to live in. gerrit ?

Congrats for schooling abroad. You are trying to inform people of the high cost of rent in jand compared to Nigeria. What's the essence of this comparism.

It's pointless having this conversation, you re too immature to have a conversation with, it's obvious you aren't exposed
People come in here information, and make decisions based on information.

fresh if you are living with your parents and not working. people who work in england are not fresh. i have seen more fresher nigerians in nigeria than in london. only the youth are fresh over there because they have not been thrust into the rat race yet. in terms of happiness ? only the youth who are not working are happy there. once you start working in engand you get depression. it is the depression capital of the world
Yup! Right now, some UK families cannot even afford basic heating in their homes.
The rise in inflation within the last 2 years has eroded personal income big time.

Only those with recession-proof sources of income will enjoy these headwinds. grin

So this is based on the life of a cousin who relocated to nigeria briefly but is back in the uk to complete his masters. so we got to talking and this is the breakdown. so he had a studio apartment in osapa london lekki and total package including nepa light was part of service charge and lawma was part of it too, total package was 1.3 million annually. so this works out to in black market rate 1625 pounds a year. this works out to 32 pounds per week. and so in the UK the rent was 250 a week. the council tax ( their lawma ) is 20 a week and electricity is like 20 a week. thats 290 pounds a week compared to his lekki 32 pounds a week. so in essence in the UK his cost of living is 9 times what it is in nigeria. Isnt that amazing ?
I struggle to see your logic,sir... doesn't even make sense.... when he is collecting his salary in Pounds ,did he break it down in Naira?? So why is it that whenever it's time for a Nigerian to pay their Bills..then they start trying to convert to Naira when the earn in dollars or pounds..... it just doesn't make sense why yall do that....

Why do you guys love comparing the Uk to Nigeria? there is simply no basis for comaprism when it comes to living.in the Uk you spend according to your needs.ie instead of renting a flat rent a room etc.

Sticking to the topic.... this is about cost of living..... not standard of living. .... and specific to rent.. OP.... you can't look at cost in isolation .... it must be attached to something.... salary. Let's consider base salary .... minimum wage..... that of the UK.... and that of Nigeria. Similar studio apartment in similar neighbourhood..... ghetto/highbrow.... what is the annual rent including electricity? To make a fair comparison.... how many months does each have to work to pay that rent? Do the math.....I'm sure the conclusion will be very different.
Cost of living in both countries is relative to the minimum earnings in both counter when you put that into perspective you will discover that the margin is to wide for comparism.

Pretty much the same point. Minimum wage in Nigeria ... can one afford the cost of living in Lagos? Minimum wage in the UK.... can one afford the cost of living in London? Same perspective... just curious...who would do better by a wide margin and why?

You've forgotten that the salaries is the uk are much higher than the salaries in nigeria by more than 9 times. A person who's considered well paid in nigeria doesn't earn up to the uk minimum wage ! The average nigerian household makes 2123 euros per annum {in 2022 its probably worse now) meanwhile in the UK its 43,434 euros that's more than 20 times. The lowest policemen in nigeria gets 50000 naira or less. Thats 600k per annum. The lowest policeman in the uk makes 24000 pounds per annum. If you calculate that by the current exchange rate ....its about 23.5 million naira annually which comes to around 1.9 million per month. Even the commissioner of police in nigeria gets less than that. That's just one example . If you compare the salaries in any field ,teachers, nurses, bankers, tv and radio presenters or even labourers they get much more than we get here for the same job. It doesn't matter if the cost of living is 9 times higher when the cost of living is 20 times or more higher .
