I'm guessing the max PV input for ur CC @24v 60a should be 100v 1440w according to spec sheets, since u have 6pcs 300w panels which VOC should max out at 40v, u can only do 2pcs in series and 3pcs in parallel to give credence to ur original idea of 2s3p just as @valto has also confirmed.

Greetings to all the Engineers in the house.
I need sound advise....
I intend to power a laptop, computer monitor and charge phones.
I don't need solar panels cos electricity is stable in my area so I plan to use electricity and generator to charge the batteries.
What is the best approach and how much will it cost.

Please educate me like a dummy, thank you.

Bros I have one advise for you. Stop talking or offering advise on solar, battery or electricity generally.. especially offline. When you do things like this online it can easily be spotted and called out before it does damage. The worse case is when you spread this complete falsehood to family and friends many who might look up to you. Na god I take beg you. Don't take it out of the next. This came from a place of love.
What you know, you know.
I speak base on my deep practical knowledge.

Who told you or where did you get the idea from that lithium-ion batteries have memory issues, all the information you posted are very false. Stop misleading people
Yes, Lithium Ion do have Memory Issue. If you do not have practical experience of what that means, then read about it at least.

If I tell you all challenging me now that with Resonant Inverter, you can with 300W Monocrystal Panels power a Load of 1KW or more, you will all say it is a lie because of what majority of you have been wrongly taught in school.

The Back Emf you are all wrongfully taught in those govt controlled schools local or abroad can actually be used to power loads when it is collected at RESONANCE.

What is Resonance?

Can you answer?

Question makes Knowledge.

Depends on your budget, a good 200ah battery and 1kva inverter should be okay for you

Run 3 panels in series to form a string which will give you 120v+ and then run the 2 strings in parallel

for a 24v system, i think around 80v should be perfect

The key thing to watch out for is the voc of your charge controller. That is the highest input voltage it can take from a pv. You need to ensure that whatever string you go for, the string voc must never come close to or exceed that of the cc.

145v doesn't give you much room, and for some of this Chinese controllers you don't want to go near their limits hence the reason for a 2 in series string and then parallel the 3 strings. I am putting this here so that those reading would understand the logic behind the 2S3P recommendation.

Just to add, one more reason for recommending a 2S3P configuration is to allow the controller to be more efficient and reduce loses when doing dc to dc conversation. Just ensure that you have the right wiring to ensure voltage loss is reduced.

The length between your controller and cc should also be factored in. If you have the panels installed on a roof 3 floors away, or about 10+ meters, then you might want to consider a 3s2p config. This means more voltage is send down the wire and you can spend less on wiring and ensure voltage loss is minimal.

It's the same logic that I actually used to recommend 3s2p as well....since he has a 300w panel, he very much within the safe zone. If it was above 360w then I would have recommended 2s as well. The extra advantage he will gets from a 3s is that CC will wake up earlier and shutdown much later which will translate to more hervest (no matter how small)
As to DC to DC conversion the higher Voc strikes me as the more efficient one in that regard. Overall 3s appeals to me more sha and it's what I will do if I was in his shoes

Please o. Make una no vex.

I use this type of charge controller , and I have been utilizing the USB port to charge phones.

So, like two days back, I noticed black parts of the display as if it was burnt. I already plugged two phones on it.

I even perceived smell of something burning.

So I removed the two phones and disconnected everything. Then, to my surprise, as I fixed the wires back, that black spot has gone, and the smell tooo.

After like 1 hour, I connected the phones. Nothing happened until about 30 minutes, and the screen started getting dark again. The smell returned too.

I removed the phones and everything got back normal.

I tired it to day, same thing.

Please:
1. where is the fault from? The phone, the charge controller, the battery or the solar panel?

2. What do I have to do to fix this.

Please I don't have inverter, just the charge controller

Thanks.

Experienced a case like yours not too long ago, caused mainly by overheating in the cc, solution was that I added a cooling fan to it and it has been running fine ever since
