I Mistakenly Recharged Ten Thousand Naira Airtime by lovelylad(op): 2:14pm On May 04, 2022

My dad asked me to help him send 10k naira to someone on his keypad phone.

I collected the phone dialled *737# sharply as I was busy. I just wanted to send the money and get back to what I was doing ASAP.

Pressed 1 - continue for using ussd blah blah.

Pressed 4 - Transfer to Gtb.

Pressed 10000 - Amount.

At this point, I was waiting for it to show input account no but what I received was " Your account has been recharged successfully, you'll receive your bonus soon."

Then I knew I've 4kd up, who never 4kd up hands in the air, no hands.

I pressed 1 to purchase airtime instead of 4 to transfer money.

When I told him, he wasn't even angry but said he knew something like this would happen someday as I always click everything fast.

I've sold 600 to some of my friends and myself, 9400 to go.

I'm now asking if there is a fast way I can convert it back to money. Its MTN.

There are some app dt u can use dt will buy it frm u buh can't b d exact amount u re selling dt they will pay u... google dem (ie d app)

In march this year, I recharged #5000 from ussd code on Airtel line instead of #500. I contacted both Airtel network and my bank on Twitter and the airtime was reversed back to my bank account after a week.

If the transaction is above 5k, call mtn customer care. they will reverse it for you.

Etisalat reverses from 20k
Glo reverses from 1000

But you'll need to contact your bank and this takes within 20 working days, that's the SLA for Gtb tho

let him contact the customer care first. I had a similar issue 2 years ago. I remember it was 5k, the customer care agent told me they can only reverse it if the transaction is above 5k.

Well like you said 2 years ago, a number of things could have changed, from GTbank's end, mtn don't do reversal, he can call Gtbank contact center to confirm
