So how will importers survive?

CBN is simply discouraging importing through Benin. Major importers are in serious shit.

Its because of Sunday Igboho.

Sunday Igboho came out to claim Benin President visited him and promised him nothing will happened to him.

He ensured he was well protected and taken care of.

He let his wives and kids visited him.

He did not hand him over to Nigeria government.

Buhari government is angry with benin republic.

They fired the first shot by shutting the border against Benin republic. And it was targeted at Yorubas.

Benin republic used Sunday Igboho to pay Nigerian Government back. Although what they did is what a normal country should do, unlike Kenya which is ruled by thugs like Nigerians.

Now they are attacking benin banking system. Their banks are better than Nigerian banks..everyone knows that

Hmmm.

Which border has the highest porosity, pray tell.

Ìdí Ìrókò border Or the Northern borders?

Who uses hard drugs and recreational drugs the most? The ESN or Boko Haram and ISWAP?

So I wonder why the CBN will be worried about transactions with Benin Republic which is dominated by foodstuff, automobiles and textiles more that trade across the Northern borders which is dominated by weapons, drugs, organs and human trafficking?

Clearly, Buhari has an axe to grind with the government of Benin Republic over her refusal to extradite Sunday Igboho, hence the use of the CBN to wage economic wars on them.

Brother you can send money out of Nigeria sir!
I buy cars and sell cars, even with yout bank app you can send money to any country of your choice. Thanks.

Edith; I guess you will still reply to disapprove. Now let me explain.
No one is stopping you sending money out of Nigeria. The problem is the exchange rate.
If I want to buy agro equipments or items in exclusive list. I feel out form M via mobile app or walk into the bank and I get foreign exchange directly paid to my supplier.
If I want to import let's say used cars, I have to go to black market to source for USD. Thereafter transfer the usd from my USD account to any bank of my anywhere.
You cannot make foreign transfer using your naira denominated account. Thanks!

The warning is to prevent Nigerian banks from being used as a conduit for money laundering from - not to - Benin.

And of course, you can send money to other countries.

These are smugglers and not genuine importers. They are part of the people killing the economy by not paying due taxes to Government. You can't be supporting such and expect Nigeria to turn Dubai overnight.

Benin republic is very expensive. A data of 1k last for a day while a month rent in the country's capital is equivalent to 6 to 12months rent in Nigeria. Before Buhari destroyed the economy of Nigeria, I used to travel to Cotonu for purchase when Nigeria currency to CFA was like dollar to naira.
That country is a mess.

They are talking about curbing criminality, to wit; the criminal activities of drug barons. I understand.

But you will agree with me that it would have been better if it was classified.

Especially when you consider need to increase the velocity of money in an economy were interest rate is between 25-72% per annum.

And the fact that Nigerians will unnecessarily create more bottle necks with a view of exploiting this intel to the detriment of legitimate importers who prefer to use port in Benin Republic.
