To David, Jesus Christ was his Lord; Psalm 110 The LORD said unto my lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. To Isaiah; For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Daniel 3:25; He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. To the faithful in times of old, Jesus Christ was known and he meant the very same as he means to the faithful today. He was their salvation just as he is our salvation. They Knew him and worshiped him and made sacrifices to him. |

In Christianity, Jesus is the Son of God and in mainstream Christian denominations he is God the Son, the second person in the Trinity. He is the Jewish messiah ( Christ) who is prophesied in the Hebrew Bible, which is called the Old Testament in Christianity. |

tctrills:He was a powerful guardian angel to the Israelites. They don't even know him. The Isaiah and Psalm verses are prophecies about Jesus. |
| Re: Who Was Jesus To The People Of The Old Testament? by tctrills(op): 8:31am On May 08, 2022 |
cornelboy:You cant make prophecies unless it is revealed. Jesus was revealed to them of old just as he is revealed to us. Also note, that Isaiah called him God, and father. David called him Lord, and Daniel called him the Son of God. He meant more than a guardian angel. He was their Lord, God, and son of God. If David did not know him, he would never call him his Lord. Jesus was his Lord Just as he is your Lord. |
The Isaiah and Psalm verses are prophecies about Jesus. You realize that when you say prophecy, you are simply saying that Jesus Christ was revealed to them right? And the purpose was that they may believe in him. |

tctrills:The prophecy was revealed to Isaiah and David. It didn't happen in their time. Isaiah knew someone is coming according to the prophecy but he obviously didn't know Jesus. Jesus became known by people when he became human. The Jews didn't even believe. I think we've had this conversation before. I don't wanna do it again. |

The prophecy was revealed to Isaiah and David. It didn't happen in their time. The prophecy in revelations did not happen at their time. When God told Noah to build an ark the rains had not come at the time. Isaiah knew someone is coming according to the prophecy but he obviously didn't know Jesus. You are wrong. He gave us the many names of Jesus so why do you think he did not know Jesus became known by people when he became human. The Jews didn't even believe. The Jews did not believe because they were sinful. But those that believed he gave the power to be sons of God. Among the Jews, a few believed. I think we've had this conversation before. I don't wanna do it again. Sir you chose to come on this thread na. The Prophets of old called Jesus their Lord as we all do today. What else do you want them to do to show they knew him. Do you even know the meaning of prophecy? |
| Re: Who Was Jesus To The People Of The Old Testament? by tctrills(op): 1:41pm On May 08, 2022 |
cornelboy:You keep saying the prophets of old did not know him and I wonder where you get that from. They wrote about him, what more should they have done to convince you that they know him even more than you do? |
| Re: Who Was Jesus To The People Of The Old Testament? by tctrills(op): 1:49pm On May 08, 2022 |
Eriokanmi:So they expected a Messiah to come, Isn't that faith, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the euidence of things not seen. These people had Faith in Christ. They hoped for him even when they did not see him |
| Re: Who Was Jesus To The People Of The Old Testament? by cornelboy(f): 7:45pm On May 08, 2022 |
tctrills:Obviously David and Isaiah didn't know Jesus more than I do. I have access to the accounts written about him. They don't. In fact, all they know is just the little prophecy God gave them about him. |
| Re: Who Was Jesus To The People Of The Old Testament? by tctrills(op): 7:49pm On May 08, 2022 |
cornelboy:How little is it? They know he is their Savoir and Lord. Please tell us what they need to know. |
| Re: Who Was Jesus To The People Of The Old Testament? by cornelboy(f): 7:52pm On May 08, 2022 |
tctrills:They knew Jesus would be the saviour and lord. They don't even know who Jesus was. But they knew someone is coming to be the saviour and they were hoping. |
| Re: Who Was Jesus To The People Of The Old Testament? by tctrills(op): 7:54pm On May 08, 2022 |
cornelboy:That's all it takes. To accept him as our Saviour that the entire purpose of the new testament. |

tctrills:++++++++ Amen! "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." - John 8:56-58 "Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ." - 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 |

cornelboy:John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. Oga, not my opinion. Some of us read the bible. The only purpose of the new testament was to make us believe in him. |

tctrills:Your statement I quoted is not rocket science. ![]() Isaiah said: "He will be called.... "mighty God" . Isaiah references a future time. Isaiah did not say he (Jesus) Most High God, Yahweh. "He will be called... Everlasting Father ". Isaiah references a future time. Isaiah did not say he (Jesus) is his Father , Yahweh the Creator, Isaiah 44:24 &1 Cor 8:6. Please note the difference. tctrills:Comot jàre. We were talking about David and Isaiah. They didn't know Christ. They only heard of him through prophecy. Nobody knew Christ before he came to the world. We were able to know Christ today because he has come and his accounts were written in the four gospel books. David and Isaiah didn't know Christ like I do today. |
Comot jàre. We were talking about David and Isaiah. They didn't know Christ. They only heard of him through prophecy. You obviously don't know the meaning of prophecy. Prophecy is the revealed word of God. So yes, Christ was revealed to them. Nobody knew Christ before he came to the world. He was \david's Lord before then. We were able to know Christ today because he has come and his accounts were written in the four gospel books. David and Isaiah didn't know Christ like I do today I can't tell if they knew that he turned water into wine but they clearly knew he is the Savior of the world and the Son of the living God. That's where lies salvation. They may not have known all his parables but salvation is not found in the parables but in believing he is the son of God. |

tctrills:Abraham was looking forward to Jesus's coming just like Isaiah and the nation of Israel were looking forward to his coming. At 1 Corinthians 10:1-4, Paul was comparing the rock Moses and the people drank from to Christ who's the source of living water. The people were baptized unto Moses at the rest sea just like Paul and the others were baptized unto Christ. Christ ain't literally that rock. |
| Re: Who Was Jesus To The People Of The Old Testament? by tctrills(op): 11:15pm On May 08, 2022 |
cornelboy:The men of old looked forward to the coming of Christ to save the world. That is called faith in Jesus Christ. John 3.16, whosoever believed in him shall have everlasting life. Did they not believe in him? The big question for you is what more would you want them to do or say to show that they believed Jesus Christ and knew he was the son of God? Because they ticked all the boxes. 4. And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. Christ was the Spiritual Rock of Isreal, they drank out from him. There expirience with Christ was much deeper than yours. |

A prophecy is a revelation if what would happen in the future. For example the Jews existing during Jesus life on earth didn't know about Jesus before he came. Some started believing when they saw the sign. Isaiah believe God would send the Messiah but he never knew the Messiah himself. |

A prophecy is a revelation if what would happen in the future. Yes it is and those that have faith in a prophecy are blessed. Faith is hope for things that are not yet come. Did these men have faith in Christ? Yes. The same way you have faith that Christ would come again because of the prophecies, that is how they had faith in his first coming. For example the Jews existing during Jesus life on earth didn't know about Jesus before he came. Just as the world in the time of Noah didnt know of the flood but those who knew where saved. Some started believing when they saw the sign. Isaiah believe God would send the Messiah but he never knew the Messiah himself. some believed even before he was born |
