The European Commission is going to approve an anti-crisis plan in the event of a cessation of gas supplies from Russia, according to which the EU countries will have to share fuel with each other, the Spanish newspaper El Pais writes, citing sources .

It is assumed that in the event of an emergency, countries with alternative sources of supply will have to provide gas to the most affected EU partners. Another important measure will be energy rationing, which will primarily affect the industrial sector in the least affected countries so that their companies do not have a competitive advantage over the enterprises of more affected countries.
According to sources, the plan could be approved as early as May 18. In addition, Brussels is going to use the gas supply regulation in force since 2017 to guarantee its supply to households and social institutions in all EU countries. According to the EC calculations, in the event of a complete cessation of gas supplies from Russia, anti-crisis measures will have to be taken by almost all EU states. At the same time, Brussels is confident that over time the EU will be able to replace two-thirds of the 155 billion cubic meters of gas annually coming from Russia.

I don't even understand what manner of foolishness this is. I used to think Europeans are wise but the manner in which they are handling this crisis, is showing otherwise.

So you're saying Russia will continue to sell oil to the EU despite the EU's desire to impose an embargo on Russian oil and gas?

The moment I knew the sanctions wont work, was when after just a few days,western media started peddling disinformation on how the Russian economy is in mess, how Russia can't pay workers etc.
Then I knew, it was all lies,how can sanction tale effect within 2 days in country like Russia, that can produce virtually everything it needs, from food to energy to technology.

I'm aware of the EU's consensus to put an embargo on Russian oil by the end of this year.What I mean is that Russia on its own can't stop selling its oil/gas.

The wise men of Europe died a long time ago. When last did you hear about any great exploits from europe. Everything they possess now are as a result
of the efforts of those geniuses.

Sanctions that wasn't effective in Nigeria during abacha rule, how will it affect a mighty Russia. They were already prepared anyway, their currency is apreciating every day
