Extremism and crises is not an islam thing, it's a religion thing. All religion can lead to extremism if
1. They are the majortiy in any society without stiff opposition.
2. They have access to poltical power

History has revealed how Christians behaved so deadly when they were majority with poltical power in medieval Europe before science conquered Europe then Europeans adopted secularism then the number of irreligious people started growing exponentially in Europe. Today they are calm in Europe because the people have stripped them off poltical power and they are no longer the majortiy in most European countries. Look at vatican where we have Christians holding political power, you can see the number of atrocities we hear from that part of the world.

Today in America, because Christians are majority, we have seen evidenceof chronic extremism by Christians. We have Christian terrorists in the United States who are specialized in enforcing Biblical doctrines E.g. The army of God, phinnea priesthood etc
These terrorist attack, kidnap and kill people who don't follow the biblical interpretation on issues regarding abortion and homosexuality.

The issue in the north is because they have access to political power, if you give the same power to Christians, they will use the power to abuse your rights and enforce biblical doctrines. They are calm in Nigeria because they have stiff opposition in Islam.

There was nothing called Islam before Jesus of Nazareth and after Jesus commissioned Christianity Satan used the Jews to kill all the pioneers of Christianity and raised Pagan Rome with falsehood to supercede the truth that Jesus commissioned, that's why Jesus was lamenting when he foresee what was ahead of Christianity after the death of his Jewish disciples {Matthew 13:25} in fact Jesus asked "will i meet this faith (Christianity) when i come back?" Luke 18:8

So it was the Pagan Roman fabrication called "Roman Catholic Church" that was forcing their false teachings on people everywhere they go, they called it the "Crusades for Christ" that's what most nations later knew as Christianity not the peaceful religion Jesus established back then. It was this brutal religion that was taken to all the regions of the Mediterranean sea and their fame was heard both far and near. That's what Muhammad of Mecca knew as Christianity. So when he tried to start a peaceful group like a virtuous person the politically oriented Roman Catholic Church were busy intimidating people with their Cross everywhere they go.

If it was the peaceful preaching and teaching Jesus commissioned as Christianity that was taken to Mecca Muhammad wouldn't have started any religion to counter the perfect setting God's Son established, but what was taken to Mecca was the brutal Roman Catholic religion that was intimidating people with their Cross, flags and soldiers claiming crusades for Jesus Christ.

So don't think Islam emerged from nowhere as a terrible religion, it was the Roman Catholic Church that gave birth to brutality that's prevalent in religion today!
