i am very interested in how a brand new phone can get you in sars custody - but then i think the answer is actually clear - someone stole the phones and sold them to an unsuspecting buyer, maybe at a bargain price, maybe not. the horrors of business in naija.

incidentally, this is why i have said anyone buying phones outside of a licensed store must be very very very careful

there are multiple ways a stolen phone can be tracked by a person with resources.

so anyone buying a phone from anywhere or any person should ensure they get their receipt and should pay via transfer so there is a bank record with the name of the seller and the details of the transaction
