The United States of America’s Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Victoria Nuland, has said that the US government is strategically interested in Nigeria because the country practices democracy and is the sole decider in the growth of the African continent.

Ambassador Nuland said this during a press briefing with selected media correspondents on Thursday at the US Ambassador to Nigeria’s residence, Maitama, Abuja.

She said, “The way Nigeria goes is the way the continent goes. Concerning our strategic interest in the country, there’s always a war between authoritarianism and democracy, and considering the fact that Nigeria is the largest democracy in Africa, as Nigeria becomes increasingly stable and secure, empowering its population, diversifying its economy and empowering the next generation, it will be a powerful engine not only for itself but for the African continent and all democracies across the world.”

South Africa doesn't have the biggest influence in Africa politically. Economically you may have a point, but even that is debatable because of Egypt and Nigeria. Militarily, Egypt is Africa's super power on paper but their political policies do not influence the continent that much but the Arab world. Then Culturally, Nigeria influences the continent more.

I judge influence by:

1)Political policies
2)Economy
3)Military
4) Cuture

Politically, no country influences Africa clearly at the moment to be honest. The powerhouses are at best regional leaders similar to Kenya in the East African regional body. Even France influences the continent and the AU more than any African country, which is a shame.

Economically, South Africa leads as the most diversified economy, though not the largest.

Militarily, Egypt wins but their military might is useless to Africa at the moment.

Culturally, Nigeria has an edge in the spread of her culture in Sub Saharan Africa.

Here is your brother again pulling himself Amazon is coming to Nigeria Amazon has been coming to Nigeria this year 2014. I have been hearing this since year 2014 Amazon and EBy is coming to Nigeria. I like the way some people just sleep and start pulling themselves and the illiterate believe what they are saying. I remember l.a. most starlink satellite when Nigerians were claiming he is going to be the first one to invest in Nigeria in Africa. End of the day what happened he has already started selling his equipment in South Africa Ghana and Kenya since last year and in Nigeria he is nowhere to be seen. The same thing with ATM machine some African countries were doing ATM machines why we were fooling ourselves. We won one of the last country in Africa to even implement ATM machine. Behind countries like Rwanda Zimbabwe Malawi all implemented ATM machines before us. It's only an illiterate which makes noise when he is last in the world. Right now there are 14 African countries which US dollar ATM machine where you can collect US dollar from the ATM machine some of these African countries implemented it 10 years ago we are not one of them. 15 African countries have international bank account which means that if you open a bank account in one country you can work into that same branch in any other country and take out US dollar we are not one of them
