Five Regions, you left out Central Africa

Shma:
There are 4 regions on the continent: North, East, South and west. When you speak of 2regional powers then ignore the two regions, then your point will be presumed as guesswork.

For instance, Nigeria is a regional power in west Africa.
Kenya is the regional power in east Africa.

South Africa is the regional power in Southern Africa.

South Africa as a Regional Great Power:
South Africa is the wealthiest, most populous and militarily the strongest state in southern Africa. There is no clinical definition of the southern Africa region, but it generally consists of 10 countries: South Africa and its former colony, Namibia; former Portuguese colonies of Angola and Mozambique; former British High Commission territories of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland; and former Central African Federation members, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The region is basically a geographic unit, but it also contains states which have historically maintained a network of commercial, political or communications links with South Africa

Then Egypt is the regional power of North - Arab land.

I don’t do conspiracy theories and fairy tales in the air.

Their action has changed towards us cos they can’t continue to ignore Nigeria’s influence on the continent and it’s clear in her statement . They are slowly loosing their grip and influence on the continent and might need us in the future to stay relevant. Expect more ties and stop wailing.

P.s - Little wonder why their biggest American consulate in the world will he in Nigeria soon. Listen it’s not in SA,they Saw SA but they chose Nigeria and more specifically EkO ATLANTIC . So many America companies and announcing to move in here enmasse, just two days ago it’s was Amazon, earlier the year it was Facebook,Microsoft and the likes.
Brace yourself,SA will see dust soon. Like I said go heckle Victoria Nuland and stop getting triggered by that reality that makes you so paranoid.
It literally logic and common sense!!

All this rambling about eko Atlantic and Microsoft and what not, but your FDI is still virtually equal to ours yet you have a population 4 times ours...

Very interesting and short minded person you concentrate on Kenya you concentrate on Ghana you concentrate on other African countries while in reality Nigeria is facing extreme difficulties.

There is fuel shortage all over Nigeria. The q in some petrol stations are over 4 km long some places have not received electricity for more than one month in certain parts of Nigeria total economic collapse keep on concentrating on other African countries fooling yourself
.

I can't believe Nigerians are still queuing for petrol. Really sad state of affairs for the biggest oil producer.

Most relevant takeaway.

Indeed, it is an indictment that Nigeria’s capital city is part of what makes us the open defecation capital of the world as if we are progressing or developing backwards.

My bru Nigeria is now in fact part of the free trade agreement wink maybe go catch up on the news......

Also the one place I would agree with you is that Nigeria and South Africa are regional powers, however my points still stands that SA has a bigger impact on Africa in terms of influence than any other country.....Just the fact that there are SAn businesses like Shopright and MTN all over Western Africa vs no West African businesses in Southern Africa, now that doesn't make a massive impact politically or even economically, however it does show that SAs influence, albeit small is still farther reaching than any country in Africa
For the Free Trade Zone, I meant Nigeria delayed the process by not agreeing on time and that was a problem for Africa and the AU. They had to ensure Nigeria was on board. Both Nigeria and South Africa were key in the signing of that agreement.
I agree that South Africa have some soft power or influence economically, but it's still not big enough to really influence African politics the way Germany does in Europe for example.

South Africa - is both a regional and africa power. It's private sector tentacles are almost in every African country. It has struggled to project it's influence beyond their borders after it epic failure or mess in Zimbwabwe. They tried NEPAD to take away some shine from AU - but it failed.

South Africa foreign policy will only recover when they deal with Zim problem.

compared to WEST, EAST, SOUTH & NORTH. Central Africa is still a much less consolidated subregion . Although it's considered part of Africa, it has no country that can influence anything - both in its region and Africa as a continent, hence why a country like Kenya has more influence in that region than any of its member states.
Soon, there will be no central region. west Africa and east will grab all the nations CAR.

This is president Uhuru receiving DRC. It's already happening. Central region will be out of the picture by 2027.

Is this what you call influence.Smh you are dumber than I thought. It’s called investment, you saw an opportunity and you decided to dive right in.
Get off your high horse Common SA can never in this life and in another life influence Nigeria.it’s just not possible.

Now read the headlines aloud then go heckle Victoria Nuland about your insecurities.

in south africa we have rich and poor.... In Nigeria you only have very very poor
Nope you are wrong. In SA you have about 6% of a certain racial demography controlling 80% of the country’s wealth. The rat 20% is share amongst 50 something million pop left and a few foreigners in the picture. Now that my friend is the real definition of very, very poor.

You see why I say your Economic hullabaloo doesn’t count. It’s a facade for lack of a better word. Go sing that elsewhere.

It does not change anything, Central Africa still remians a Region in Africa.

Africa has been shared by the big boys(US, China, England, France, Germany etc) but they consider us a Continent.

It’s only logical from your warped view, like I said I don’t do fairy tales and conspiracy theories

The fact that you could come here and get yourself paranoid over a mere speech from The US show you are starting to feel and see SA loose her relevance on the grand scale of thing in our dear continent.

You are going down and the sooner you accept this the closer you are to a lasting solution. Two decades ago you won’t be bothered by things like this but here you are arguing with me over Nigeria’s growing influence whilst your country can barely even do a 1% annual growth. Go ahead tell me,when was the last time you tasted what it feels to grow at 1% annual rate. You sat your sorry asses there and now Egypt has taken the second spot as Africa’s leading economy. You’ve dropped the bar to a mere $329bn economy,on the other hand we ended 2021 3.4%(we would probably do a 5% then SA the regular 0.1,0.2 prognosis) that left our economy at a whooping $514bn(can you see the gap) . And yes I know you will argue population with me,but also remember our pop has always been twice yours in the last decades but yours managed to stay at the top. Your economy has tanked and you are all over the place shamelessly displaying your insecurities and arguing over FDI. Thesame FDI you’ve always been a shining star with, thesame SA that use to be the untouchable investment hub is now shivering to her kneels.- don’t worry it will only get worse. With all that INFASTRUCTURE you are dragging FDI with countries of lesser infrastructures than your(albeit all that is changing, ours is improving, your is either stagnant or dilapidating).

And yes the US saw shinning SA but had only your past to remember you for and that wasn’t enough to take their biggest consulate to the shores of SA.I bet the nodded their head in pity for ramphosa and his subjects and hopped on the next train to Nigeria. Watch the space more US companies will keep coming ,and then you can wail until you are out of breathe. Nothing will change.
