I have a great site idea that I have been working on for months now.

I have my domain and hosting already

And I've been working on the site cos I can build small small sites...but this idea I'm planning to work on is quite big for my technical expertise and I want to employ a website designer to help me redesign and add some functionality and customization the way I want the site to be.

But the question is, how can I ensure such idea will not be stolen or replicated somewhere before I fully lauch my own. That has been my thought. Cos there's no such idea yet around.

.....pls I need your advice and is it possible for a designer or a sponsor to steal one's idea, how does it happen? And how can it be prevented when employing and web designer?

If you don't want your idea to be stolen, don't share it with anybody.

Go and learn programming and implement your ideas yourself.

You can only sign an NDA but at the end, a developer can indirectly default

It all has to do with patency.

I really don't know the Nigerian law when it comes to filing for patency. But patency in other countries especially in the US are really protected by law.

You're safe if you have the money to register a patent.

I can add your functionalities and I promise I won't steal it, in fact, I can't it's impossible where do I see the money to host it so OP, hire me and you've got my word, I can drop my email for you to contact

There is NO idea new under the sun. Absolutely none. You think you have got a very unique idea? Chances are that someone somewhere has already implemented it. Just do your research and learn. One shortcut I've learnt is to Google your idea+open source e.g open source Forum software or open source learning management software. There are a ton of 'free' enterprise ready open source solutions you can leverage to cut your time to market.

Op! It is just an idea.and last I checked, every idea is unique.

Lol, I had an idea before jiji and efritin came to 9ja. Omo, efritin has folded and jiji is till out there... but my idea still dey my head. So, your ideas will always be yours... unless it's not unique.

Engage different people!


Discuss only a small aspect with them


That way, no one will have all the components with them,

But you will need to acquire some skills. Skills that will enable you to merge the various outputs from the different people you engaged
