The role requires the instructor to use the instructional training manuals that Aptech will provide to train the upcoming programmers. You will not be building software or have to prepare the manuals. You are not likely to have more than 4 hours of teaching time per day and you can spend the rest of your day freelancing. Teaching is a way to give back and develop oneself. I hope you notice that we offer accommodation as part of the package.

As a programmer myself, programming is not a joke but the will to impact others is essential to becoming an instructor.

About the role

Salary Range: ₦60,000 - ₦80,000 (with free Accommodation)

Responsibilities:
• Deliver Programming and Software course curriculum (lecture, practical exercises, formal and informal assessment activities).
• Teach different advanced programming techniques and languages, and support the Digital Transformation Hub.
• Advanced technical experience in domains related to software engineering and development principles.
• Enhance lessons using appropriate and relevant examples derived from professional experience.
• Assess, track, and report student performance and attendance in line with Aptech policies and procedures.
• Conduct all administrative functions required for successful execution of course delivery.
• Maintain an appropriate and professional relationship and mentorship with the students.
• Maintain professional awareness of changes and trends in software engineering and development.
• Maintain and update the Learning Management System with curriculum/eLearning developed materials used to support the training.
• Background experience or knowledge in the Software Engineering domain / Programming languages is a must.

Interesting perspective and thinking. Monetary remuneration is great but not the only factor to consider in a job opportunity. Do you envisage a culture that facilitates your development and profer you with time to learn? Do you know the level of personal development programs involved in the role? Have you ever heard of internship or volunteering, and why do reasonable individuals consider it worthy? Apply critical thinking when trying to criticise a position. Note that the role is not in Lagos and it offers free accommodation and only requires 4 hrs per day for 4 -5 days with a lot of personal development and other benefits beyond salary. The candidate will have sufficient time to take on freelance jobs. It is not a rigid environment here. I do not intend to convince you; you are entitled to your opinion.

Sometimes we just have to deliberate. As I mentioned in the initial post, it is a new centre. There is still a lot of marketing going on to get students. Mind you the centre is not in Lagos and the fee is less than 50% of the fee in Lagos. Living in Osogbo is far peaceful and our accommodation is a stone's throw from the centre. Again, as earlier mentioned, our instructors will grow with us.

My issue wasn't with the pay per se. But with the tech stack mentioned, for that pay range. I understand that Osogbo has a low COL but still...

I had mentioned it before that the stacks are not required all at once. I also took the pain to explain how the stacks are interconnected. There is no way all of these stacks will be running at the same time for a 4 hrs training time per day. It is logical. The list is just what would be expected at some point in the cause of the role. The instructor will advance with the students and new instructors will take simpler stacks. For instance, HTML5, CSS and Javascript, even with bootstrap are bundled together and we often train students for this in less than 6 - 8 weeks. I am not even saying the salary is the best because it will be subjected to upward review as the centre grows.
