Before I forget, while I like the rumors and possibilities of signing Raphinha, I do not prioritize his signature or that of another winger over a quality CM, based on the needs of this team. We need 2 quality midfielders (we got one in Viera) and a CF who understands his role is to score goals, anything else is just luxury in my opinion.

We need to sign a quality CM and I hope there is an honest effort to secure the signature of a quality CM that can partner Partey in that double pivot formation Arteta prefers. I just hope I am wrong, after all they pulled a Viera on us when no one saw it coming!

I think the club wants to get Tielemans. They are relaxed because they are the only ones after him and Leicester wants to play hard ball with his transfer fees. He has one year left on his contract and desperately wants to leave, Arsenal has offered 25m but no response from Leicester. They want to convince him to extend, but I feel the deal will go through once they realise that if they don't take action now, they will not get a replacement soon enough and he will leave for free next season.

Arteta prefers a single pivot with double 8s on either side. His use of Xhaka as an 8 alongside Odegaard was an innovation. Now he wants a real 8 that's why he got Vieira. Partey's backup for that single pivot will be Elneny, Lokonga and Torriera. None of these can be trusted if Partey should be out for long, that's why we needed Tielemans.

I believe he will come, but it means one of those backups will also have to leave- most likely Torriera.

Firstly, Arteta does not employ a DM but a CM in his formation. There's a difference. Secondly, Tielemans plays that role, and unless things change, he is better than the rest CMs we have including Elneny.

You lots underrate Saka because of his cool demeanor. That's how they thought Grealish and Foden will bench him at the Euros until he bested them. The more you pressure Saka the better he gets. I am confident he will bench Raphinha, but even if he didn't, it's still win for me.

A DM is focused on defending and breaking opposition passages. A CM is focused on transition from defense to attack. Arteta does not employ is deep lying midfielder to defend but to transist and break opposition presses.
