Correct me if I'm wrong but these China or solar powered cctvs are 100% online access only.
I have not used any. But I guess there should be options on how you prefer the video to be stored.

Ideally since there are many Nigerians resident overseas or even in China--the State Government can go into some type of partnership with some of these reputable persons to source these goods in bulk from a good Chinese site like Banggood.

Evidently, you want to buy a camera security system powered by solar. But the solar power is not just for the camera alone. You need to also buy a big Lithium (or type of) rechargeable battery whereby the solar energy gotten by the day is saved in the batteries. While by night when the sun is no longer around, the electricity stored in these same batteries power the surveillance cameras.

Solar by the day. Lithium-ion Battery by night.

Meanwhile, in Peter Obi's Anambra, UGM, Ipob and ESN are in a competition of who can kill Igbos the most.

You see Peter Obi jogging in Lagos, something he dares not try in Anambra.
His stupid supporters will tell you Peter Obi doesn't have a house outside Anambra. Maybe he's living in a brothel in Lagos.

Vote Peter Obi so he can turn Nigeria into
what Anambra has become.

In as much as its a welcome development...the question is what will power the CCTVs during non-office hours?

...in dubai you cannot steal a spoon and get away with it. There are cameras in every corner, not necessarily street/govt owned cameras but residential buildings, shops, kiosks, supermarkets...its everywhere, even in the darkest alleys.

I am a CCTV installer. I quite understand what you explained.... We always recommend a solar powered CCTV for clients that have no stable power supply, but the issue is that the cost is always above their budgets.

No matter what you do, Jihadists from northern Nigeria will still carry out their operations anywhere in the south, so long as they have no borders or visa to cross over to any part of the southern regions of Nigeria. A country where one group seeks to protect its people from another group in the same country, is not worthy to remain one country.
Political and religious leaders of the 12 northern Nigeria's sharia states urinated on Nigeria's Constitution and adopted Sharia criminal laws, their armed footsoldiers emerged in many forms to gun for a Nigeria to be governed with Islamic Sharia criminal laws.

But come what may....something still has to be done! Results from violent South Africa and the Uk proves that the CCTV systems does reduce crime.

"City of Johannesburg officials have said in interviews that the use of facial recognition could in the future be used to police "undocumented persons", and video analytics could be used to police protests. Their vision included the use of predictive analytics in which machine-learning algorithms find patterns and make predictions about future events.

"At the same time, officials admitted that they had no studies to show that their video surveillance was curbing crime. In May 2019 the press reported anecdotes and data - provided by the City - alleging that the use of cameras was reducing crime. However, there are presently no independent peer-reviewed studies to confirm this," South African Institute of International Affairs writes in The City Surveillance State." -- https://allafrica.com/stories/202206050032.html

and

"Surveys show that video monitoring can reduce certain types of crime. The College of Policing’s Crime Reduction Toolkit suggests that CCTV is "associated with a statistically significant decrease in crime". According to one study, crime decreased by 13% in places with CCTV, compared to places without it. It also revealed that certain types of crime are affected by the presence of CCTV: drug-related crime decreased by 20%, and vehicle and property crime by 14%." -- https://www.calipsa.io/blog/cctv-statistics-in-the-uk-your-questions-answered

I think Nigeria rightly deserves the elevated Camera Surveillance systems actively used by the Chinese to monitor their population. Their citizens have a social credit scoring systems that rewards or penalizes them for anything done or said in the camera's public view Of course this would mean also investing a massive lot in Facial and Gesture/Pose Recognition Systems that can understand faces --as well as understand when faces are covered to trigger an alarm to the authorities of imminent danger in X or Y area for action.

Always stay ten steps of whatever sabotage the Abokis will throw at progress. Magnify the counter-terrorism strategies rather than feel overwhelmed by the Islamist hell-deserving terrorism.

That would be way above budget..

But if actualized, it would be the smartest move in the history of Ondo and set as example for other states to follow...

Nice one...and they should pay people to sit there watching and monitoring the cctv 24/7 even though nothing happens or something eventually happens...

9ja has this culture of just merely putting the cctv there and later going to watch it when something happens

This criminals should be seen and caught in real time as it is done overseas

I hear this argument a lot only in Nigeria and It's incorrect, I won't say ignorant.

No one watches CCTV 24 hours day except its an entrance to a facility during office hours.
The whole point of CCTV is to
1) Deter most criminals
2) Go over it when something happens. That's why they should be clear and HD
An average 10 storey building or build on 5 hectares of land will have 10 to 30 CCTV, how do you want to put a human to watch them 24/7 or you will hire 30 people?

In most European countries, they have data base of everyone in a state and you don't see a lot of police manning roadblocks along the roads. They use cctv to monitor people's activities. But over here, due to the gains the ogas make from insecurity they won't install it.

Hmmm... so this outfit is ordering the State and giving ultimatum. What if the Stat3 doesn't comply? Another terrorist organization loading. Calling for CCTV cameras as in other countries without looking at the infrastructure they have to support it.... basic being 24/7 electricity with stable current.... consistent 4G or 5G for the live streaming ... maybe 500 people are employed to be sitting and monitoring.... while the crimes continue off camera ... then what? Finally a crime is caught in progress ... a call is made to the Police... but the line keeps ringing out .... after 15 minutes someone finally answers ... report is made... location is given... only to be told there is no vehicle at the moment... then what? International best practices indeed.... all these half brain TV watching officials end to be voted or kicked out of office. Too many believe it is their destiny or inheritance.
