Who is responsible for the jump in diesel? Is APC not the ones Nigerians voted into power to solve problems?

Why are you people always looking to defend an anomaly? How much are you paid?

Okota protest comes to mind. Increase was about 60% the current clowns were ready to shut down Nigeria. Today we have experienced about 500% increase in Gas and diesel and everyone is quiet.

Lagos, the commercial hub of Nigeria, has been ranking as one of the worst places to live in the world for the nine straight years, a BusinessDay analysis shows.

Data from the 2019 Global Liveability Index published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the world’s leader in global business intelligence, shows the city has been within the range of 137th-139th position out of a total of 140 cities in the world from year 2011-2019.

The lack of state-owned pipe-borne water in the homes of Lagos residents has continued to be a source of concern, a non-profit group, Corporate Accountability and Public Advocacy Africa (CAPPA) has said.

At a press event to mark this year’s World Water Day, the group said its monitoring team’s visit to state-owned waterworks showed that most of them are not operational.

The group said the waterworks it visited include the ones at Maryland, Mushin, Ikorodu, Obalende, Agbowa, Onikan, Ikoyi, and Amuwo Odofin.

Only the one in Ikoyi is producing water, according to CAPPA.

Re: Sanwo-Olu Approves Increase In BRT Fares By ₦100 by MadamExcellency: 9:50am On Jul 01, 2022
.Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved a flat rate increase by N100 in bus fares for all Bus Rapid Transit, BRT, and Standard routes as part of measures to sustain operations.

The increase, which is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 13 July 2022, was said to aim at ensuring sustainability of the BRT and standard route schemes.

Assistant Director, Corporate Communication, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA, Kolawole Ojelabi, who announced this yesterday, explained that the operations of the transport scheme, in recent times had been hampered due to rising cost of inputs required for sustainable service offering and the attendant high number of buses out of operation as a result of lack of spare parts.

“For instance, the exponential increase in the pump price of diesel from N187 to N830/litre between August 2020 and June, 2022, had greatly affected optimal performance of the bus operating companies leading to the withdrawal of buses from operation and longer waiting time at bus stations.

“The Governor in consenting to the fare increase also approved a proposal for a bail out for the bus operating companies in other to cushion the effect of the harsh operating environment and safeguard private partnership investment and forestall the demise of formalized bus operations in the state.

“In view of the economic situation, the government is also providing support for the Bus Operating Companies in view of the continuous increase in fuel price. This is to ensure that the increase to the passenger is kept to a minimum,” Ojelabi stated.

The fare increase notwithstanding, government noted that whatever support this would provide to the operators, it would still not cover the cost of fueling, thus likely to put the continued survival of the bus operations on a tight rein.

Diesel to CNG

Ojelabi added that the Governor also approved the request by LAMATA for the conversion of the current diesel buses in operation to the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) and a shift to different economically viable and environmentally friendly mobility energy solution that are cost efficient and maximize operations cost such as Electric vehicles, hydrogen buses and the development of hybrid energy sources as alternative fueling for the current Bus Reform Initiative, BRT, buses.

According to the request, “These measures are indispensable in the current global economic and environmental reality to ensure the sustainability of the BRI operation.”

New Rates

When the new rates finally commence, a bus ride from Ikorodu – TBS will cost N600 from N500, while Berger to Ajah is now N700, up from N600. Oshodi to Abule Egba will cost N450 from N350 and Abule-Egba-CMS-Obalende will attract a fare of N600.

I wasnt referring to the increase in BRT fare but your comparison in fare with other states to Lagos .
If we compare the infrastructures personal road put in place to run BRT if other states try it I'm sure dey will be more costly than Lagos BRT fare if they want it to keep running if not it will fold up.....

Look at the Train for instance You can get 1500, 1000 naira bus from Lagos Park and Sole 600, 700 buh Train is 2000naira and na Govt dey run train the train needs maintenance to keep ruining and av staff to pay, av loan to payback so getting subsidized rate from train go hard..

Oga I too live in lagos. Although, I know the roads aren't 100% but they are better than what's obtainable in other places. I live in Iyana ipaja, Aboru to be specific, while I work in Ikeja. From my compound to my office I drive on completely tiled road. So what are saying.
PO which I know is the candidate you want us to vote for is also a former governor of Anambra state. I have visited Anambra a number of times and it's a state I know is erosion ravaged. So keep quiet and sit down

Nigerians are highly docile in responding to government harsh policies.

At this time something like this can cause a large protest elsewhere
But since the service they render is not that impactful. I have not been on BRT this year so
In times like this, what responsible govt do is reduce public fares as palliative to cushion the hard economy the created with their inefficiency.

Re: Sanwo-Olu Approves Increase In BRT Fares By ₦100 by Mboi: 10:02am On Jul 01, 2022
During covid19 when BRT was carrying half passengers, they increased the fres claiming its because they're not carrying full. A month after they started carrying full passengers, did they reverse the fare to old price?
Now adding N100 means you spend extra N200 every day which is N1000 every week and N4000 extra on BRT alone every month.
A wicked government will add little amount on what you consume everyday and it reduces your standard of living without you knowing.

Gas is cheaper in the U S compared to Nigeria.

In the US, I can use public transport. It's highly cost effective than using my personal car.
There are many things to can avoid when gas price goes up.
You won't have to use generator to generate power.
You can also decide to use public transport.

Govt also give real and verifiable bailout to citizens unlike Nigeria where it's only given on TV.

And gas is sold per gallon in the US. A gallon approx. 4 litres
