Who told you Partey doesn't perform their roles? Partey performs Ndidi role to the fullest. Meanwhile Ndidi doesn't have the skillset to perform like Partey. Simple!

When you see Partey playing deep during attacking it's because he is orchestrating play from the back as a CM. Not that he is waiting to intercept ball. That was why I agreed when Mostob said he is a DLP. If not he is no different from Ndidi or Kante who are clearly DMs. It is from that role, that he is asked to give defense splitting passes. If he was just waiting to intercept ball, then how does he give those passes? He will not be in a position to do that.

Almost all positions are getting advanced. Even GK isn't left out. Imagine someone like Leno not seeing a shirt in a top club especially as he have good reflex and also good at shot stopping. During Wenger's early years, he would have seen shirt. That's to tell you how advanced the game have gone

because is limited at both the attacking and defensive department. Torreira is just like Kante. Sambi and Xhaka can't replace Partey perfectly even though they have a good range of passing. Why? Their defensive attribute is questionable. Arteta played Xhaka and Sambi together after Partey got injured and the team fell apart. Both can pass though but defensively, they're suspects.

We can't afford to lose any of our core pieces now, not this coming season at least. We absolutely need to get top 4 so we can keep these guys, else, we may lose a bunch of them to teams in the UCL and the cycle will start again.

This was actually his reaction. He was told he was not going to be part of the coach's plan, which led to his tantrums. Same thing Saliba did. Since then he has been reluctant to play for us. It's normal. In fact as at now he has an agreement with Valencia. It's not like England is biting him, he is just feeling angry.

Yes. I agree with you. Roles and tactics change. Yes we know Partey as a DM. That's what he has been since Atletico Madrid. But, but , but, his role in Arteta's formation is not as a DM but a CM which he has performed extremely well against all odds. It's the same thing with Xhaka, he is a CM we all know, but Arteta uses him as an AM. The same thing with ESR. We all know he is an AM. But Arteta uses him as a winger. I believe you get the drift now. Partey is a DM no doubt, but Arteta uses him as a CM. Elneny is a CM and easily fitted in as backup to Partey. Lokonga is a CM but lost form when needed. Torriera is a DM and couldn't fit in (unless he improves which I believe he can). AMN is a CM but has been played more as a FB. Aubameyang is a striker but played on the wings for Arteta.

I can go on and on, so the position may remain but the roles will change.

That's what I was explaining to Jodera2 about total football where players are asked to take on roles that are different from their positions.
