Hello house. I was deeply saddened at how low my pineapple produce was priced in the local market.. I’ve spent a lot maintaining the farm and all, and at the end I was being priced for 300 per pineapple.

I wanna know how effectively I can sell the product at good price. Please help out

my broda sorry you are discouraged but the truth is, there is no way you will profit at this level u r doing it.

You can only make some profit if you are farming it on large scale say like 5000 to 10000 pieces and they have to be really big sizes that's when you can sale it for as low as 300 per piece and still make some profits.

I guess you know that at street price, this your sizes are sold for between N450 and N500 per piece. Therefore you are left with no option but to sale it for 300 to wholesale buyers.

Or better still, set up a table in choice area of your street and retail them yourself for either N500 or N400 per piece.

They were in different sizes. There are big sizes, medium and some small ones there, and also the variant is the sweet cayenne type.. they kept on mentioning the fact that they get from Cotonou at that price, and I know the ones farmed there is the MD2 variant… they are quite different species, and true pineapple lovers would appreciate this variant more.

I planted an estimate of 4000 suckers. The ones harvested were the ones that were already getting ripe. I still have a lot more in the farm, and they would be ready for harvest in the coming weeks. I’m thinking of ways to improvise to make more profit

the game is to sale it whole sale on the ground to dealers. then they will be the ones harvesting it themselves as it ripe.

Do not harvest it and take to the market.Call buyers to your farm and buy before harvesting

These are the very sweet species, why not take the buyers to your farmland and then negotiate on the bulk price. They will handle the havesting and transportation for you saving you more money. Good luck with that.

I bought that size 250 yesterday from a market woman so it's even cheaper from the farmer.

Get a juice presser. Press the pineapples, juice them and bottle them properly. Get a stand in any of the mega churches. Brand your drink and
sell. Take it to schools around you. Take it to where there is mass population.

Dangote's Dansa Fruit Juice factory is serviced by 5,500 hectares of pineapples. Can you imagine a Dangote going to market women to sell his pineapple? Think value addition. Think big.

One of Ghana's major sellers of chocolate drinks started the business from her own kitchen. Now she is the major domestic player in theat market.

How can you fly like an eagle when you scratch the ground like a chicken?
