Nigerian politicians do not value education cos many of them did not go to school so they have to bring the bar so low so they can be accommodated especially for elective positions. How do you think someone that has just one credit in his ssce be interested in voting more funds for education? The united nations recommended 26% of national budgets should be channelled to education in all nations but over the years I don't even think 10% benchmark has ever been reached by successive governments. They don't care about the future of the same Nigeria they preach to others. They are just there to guarantee their own future and the future of their kids. ASUU can go on strike for all they care cos their kids are abroad studying in one university or another.
Except we make it compulsory that all children of public officials must be in public schools then we ain't got no future for the average Nigerian citizen.
In one these Scandinavian countries they banned private ownership of schools. All the kids both rich and poor attend the same public schools nationwide. There are no discriminations and everyone is equal and this same country has one of the best education system in the world even better than that of the Americans. Except we copy this same system or something similar we will never be out of the woods. How can a counselor be earning more than a professor at the end of the month considering how our naira is dropping faster than a speeding bullet?

The solution is simple Universities should operate as a business Those who want to go should pay, When we travel abroad we pay. If we have good universities foreigners will pay to come to our universities just like we are taking money abroad.
Government cannot afford to provide free and qualitative university education for our population

That’s one of our major problem in this country, those oldies will be fighting themselves and forget about youth. Abeg youths are out there seeking for jobs and those Igbaya talking about there own wages. Do you know how schools those professors are working? How many of them have children in state or federal universities. Abeg make government reduce their money to increase primary and secondary school teacher. Nigeria professors wey selling marks don finished there life.

The last time I checked, the official currency of Nigeria is still #, not $. You can actually subsidize their salaries to make even, by the way.

Nigerian lecturers are one of the brightest in Africa, but totally underpaid. Here in Ghana professors are well paid far better than their Nigerian colleagues. Its a shame that Nigerians didn't value their education and educators. Will do anything to shame them.

Ask yourself why other countries in the world are upgrading their educational institutions with well paid academics. Its a pity that Nigerians who schooled in foreign universities will never look down on their professors. Why, because of the level of their dedication to the students welfare and how do these countries solved This challenges and bring out the best in their academics? simple, they understand that the better welfare of the educators transcends to better welfare and development of the students who Will build the country for the good of all citizens. China was a very big case study. Nigerians are just pitful. Even the so called educated elites are stupid and selfish. Will prefer to send their children to foreign universities to study and develop Very well, educated by well paid academics but can't and won't want such for their own universities and academic staff. Treason. Betrayal of the highest to the country.

You don't need war to destroy a country, just incapacitate the educational institutions and educators, the country will self destruct itself.

The confusion that sits in the heart of so many black leaders is multifaceted, at first they struggle and kill to become Leaders of various political positions and yet only get there to take and do whatever pleases them, years later you see them protesting against a perceived failed government in power when the tables changes. The evolution of of African democracy is upon us, the change will be Swift because the Red Necks will not survive the storm that is coming upon them.

Please post the salary of a British or American professor. I dare you. Its a challenge. Post the salary of educators in Britain and USA. If possible post the salaries of professors with specialization in medicine and other professional studies. I dare you.
Who told you that salaries are universal.
What percentage of their salary do our professors pay as tax, house rental or electricity bill.
Even in USA professors in different institutions are paid differently.
For us to move forward we have to make sure people are paid for their output and not because they have certificates which most of them can not defend in practice.
Professor na for mouth?

Some of the people that taught that my primary school teacher worked hard enough over the years and later became professors. Also, most of the people that taught that my primary school teacher were trained by professors.
So, d ansa to ur question is yes.

You see, professors are at the peak of education.
To underpay professors is to undermine education

yes university should charge 1 million naira cause University is for only politicians children.

Let the rest of the poor man children go, and do banditry or thuggery whichever one.

Afterall the federal government can't afford any thing they can only afford to send their children abroad to study.
