This is the woman that defeated His Excellency, Engr David Umahi today in Abakaliki Federal High Court. She's Mrs Ann Agom-eze. She came second in the APC senatorial primary election for Ebonyi South Zone. Engr David Umahi's younger brother, Austin Umahi came first. Austin Umahi withdrew from the election and relinquished the ticket to Engr David Umahi. INEC frowned at it and omitted Engr David Umahi's name as it never monitored the rerun exercise announcing Umahi candidate. Engr David Umahi went to Federal High Court in Abakaliki, seeking order of court for INEC to publish his name as senatorial candidate for Ebonyi South. Ann Agom-eze applied to be joined in the suit.

Delivering his judgment this morning on the suit, Justice Riman cited section 115 of the electoral act which forbids a person from standing two different primary elections in the same year. He said in his judgment that such a person if found claiming to participate in two primary elections risks a two year jail term. He said that the authentic senatorial candidate of the APC is Mrs Ann Agom-eze since Austin Umahi withdrew from the race.

Therefore, if Engr David Umahi files an appeal, he stands to gain two years jail bounty as stated by Justice Riman in his judgment.

Tambowa seems to have escaped this trap by stepping down and not being on ballot for PDP presidential primary. Those who stepped down can argue that they didn't participate in two different primaries since they were not voted for in one of the primaries.

The South, especially the South East are babies in the game of politics. People like Umahi and Akpabio that they suppose to you style support as back up plan. You don't put your eggs in one basket or cut your nose to spite your face.
It is people like Umahi and Akpabio that should straightforward vie for Senate presidency IF APC wins the presidential election. But of course, when there's no big APC name from the South, the presidency will either go North or at worst South West. Then SE will cry blood and neglect and Biafra yet again.

The younger Umahi scored 279 and the woman scored 5 votes. Since the younger Umahi withdrew, it leaves only one person on the ticket. So, even the re-run will only involve one person.

The case of Tambuwal and Bala's are different because they made sure, they were the only candidates hence only an aspirant who participated in the Primaries can go to Court. If they had rivals, they will also face same music. The woman (Agom-Eze Nwanyibuife Ann) was pressured to step down because she belongs to a rival faction to Umahi's but she refused. She is based in Lagos here.

Tribunal can't entertain same because it is a pre-election suit, only the FHC can.
