Link to the announcement please. And shouldn't the vendor wait till the Nigerian govt has made its own statement?
Only mention anywhere is this:

The TUSAS CEO confirmed this in an interview with CNN Turk few days ago.

I watched the thing and at 24:38 is when he says the chopper has been ordered by Philippines and then he mentions Nigeria. The bad auto-translate doesn't catch. The reporter ends by saying, "I hope it will go closer".

By the way, this is not how companies do major announcements.
I'll celebrate when there's a proper announcement.

Update: As I suspected, a Turkish speaker says the CEO was saying they've put in a strong proposal in Nigeria and they're hopeful.

Breaking News

TUSAS CEO Temel Kotil has finally announced the sale of 6x T-129 ATAK helicopters to Nigeria

While the T-129 ATAK is an excellent helicopter, I don't think this helicopter is what Nigeria needs right now.

If we are looking at the purchase strictly through political lenses, it makes sense, especially seeing that the AH-1Z would have operational restrictions, it probably makes sense to purchase another type in limited quantities.

However, how does the Nigerian Air Force plan to maintain the MI-35M, AH-1Z and T-129 ATAK helicopters?

Am thinking either one of the AH-1Z or ATAK helicopter is for the Army aviation and NAF.

The Caspian Report covered the Lesotho Highlands Water Project geopolitics with SA. It was really well researched, I'm impressed.

There's no doubt tiny Lesotho got screwed with Phase 1 of the project. But then again we took all the risk with the construction. It also doesn't help that with the financing of their portion, World Bank funds were diverted by their politicians, resulting in SA putting up more funding and increasing our stake.

Also, 80% of their budget is derived from SA, in the form of remittances and funds from Customs Union, which sees Lesotho, Swaziland and Botswana getting shares of Customs duties from SA ports far in excess of the amounts they trade.
Which provides enormous leverage to SA when they threaten to get out of hand.
Like when Botswana wanted to negotiate a free trade deal with the US outside of the Customs Union. Pravin Gordhan innocently wondered at a press conference whether it was time to bring Customs Union funds in line with trade figures, and that put paid to any notion of unilateral free trade agreements. wink

POSTSCRIPT: What's up with the Kenyan stock images? Couldn't Caspian find videos of the Lesotho Highlands to buy?

I think he uses StoryBlocks for his stock videos. It's cheaper because you pay a flat monthly fee for all your footages. However, it lacks on African footage... I saw he kept on using the stock footage the guy from Economics Explained when he did video on South African economy, he also threw in a DRC rural street scene as "South Africa".

Anyways, getting a permit to fly a DJI drone in SA is much more difficult than getting airborne with a helicopter with a cameraman onboard, which can get very expensive for someone who's willing to supply proper stock footage for YouTubers.

Amongst various scenarios - the CBR scenario already uploaded by Kabe1 is one - in this year's Exercise Shared Accord 2022, there was the Tactical Air Landing Operation against simulated opposing force at Richards Bay Airport on Wednesday 20 July 2022...
