The irony of increased taxation is that you can't trust the Nigerian government.

They will most likely embezzle the money, maintain the status quo and claim that there is nothing on ground.

Supporting Obi was a fad so many people joined cos it appeared to be the fashionable thing to do. But novelty and excitement can only carry you so far. When many of them calm down and take time to listen to their guy they will realise that his manifesto is one big, fat "Trust me bro".

The citizens would not take it.

If 50% of your salary is taxed even before it hits your Zenith account, you would not tolerate any incompetence from PHCN or bad roads from your LG chairman.

You would not dedicate 90% of your ample time voting for the next BBN winner when the government can’t explain what they are doing with 50% of your monthly salary.

The public’s interest in government expenditure would heighten.

Anybody clamoring for more taxation in the face of the current economic realities is just being obtuse . Lagos State government collects tax via multiple fronts…. Market women pay to Local government agents, transporters pay to NURTW (which the state government seem to be comfortable with prior to MC Oluomo having issues with the national body ) , Companies are pursued to remit to LIRS whatever is due to them , land use charge is being collected steady ……. Yet u can see a whole lot of projects left undone by the state and local government . You see people parroting about increase in IGR and all, yet the development on ground to show for it is minimal . Lagos state water corporation does not even provide 1/10th of the clean water people use in Lagos .

The people currently paying tax enjoying next to nothing from the tax they pay; yet u will burden them With more tax on the promise that they will enjoy the benefits when they pay more ? Is that playing ? What sort of playing is that ?

We spend the little money we have on frivolities and unnecessary vanity . Most ministries every year when they submit their budget will make budget for new Toyota Landcruiser Prado for the top guys on a yearly basis and it gets approved . Why buy new Landcruiser prado every year ?

If we don’t curb such excesses first, any further attempt to raise more money will end up in more corruption still eating the funds . At least we’ve seen how Abacha loot being distributed has been “judiciously used” thus far .

So Obi who left PDP to Labor has suddenly become a new person, Kwankwanso who left PDP for NNPP has become a new person

When Atiku left PDP for AC did he become a lesser thief

https://gazettengr.com/nigerian-soldiers-busted-for-sharing-in-n100-million-ransom-paid-by-deji-oyewunmi-abducted-kaduna-train-passenger/

“After we did all the consultations and we arranged. the N100 million cash for the bandits, we met some Nigerian soldiers at several checkpoints leading to the forests in Kajuru, and they collected large amounts ranging from N100,000 to N220,000,” a source familiar with the matter said. “They were boldly telling us that it was their share of the ransom and the bandits would understand.”

“We were short about N700,000 from the N100 million by the time we got to the bandits,” the source added. “We were all ashamed that Nigerian soldiers had the audacity to openly collect their own share because they were laughing and mocking us at the checkpoints that it was their own share of the ransom we were taking to the bandits.”

Another source said some of the soldiers sympathised with the victims and their relatives affected by the mass abduction but said they had also been in the trenches for months without adequate supplies.
This is why this cannot be stopped.

Your comment was from Obi’s commissioner. Who else would he pander to if not Obi Wan?

Investigations revealed why Obi sacked the VC. Obi suspected the VC was in bed with the protesting lecturers and he slammed the hammer on the VC.

Atiku Kwankwaso, Obi were all in PDP till recently

So Nigeria decide to punish APC then Tinubu ElRufair Buhari decamp to the next party where people are favouring

As at the last time of US elections,

Trump = 74 years
Biden = 78 years.

Mitch McConell is 80, Nancy Pelosi is 82

This weird idea that young looking politicians are better for the job than old people is highly idiotic.

Yahya Bello was 40 when he became a governor, what impact has he made since? Dimeji Bankole was 38 when he was elected speaker of the house, what ground breaking policies did he make while he was there.

Dino Melaye was 41 when he became a senator. He’s arguably the most irresponsible law maker in the history of Nigeria. I don’t get what age has to do with governance but this is Nigeria. Many of you people have outsourced your thinking faculties to social media influencers.

LOL, I dey the same boat with you.
I am neither obidient, Batified or atikulated.
I believe that they are all different shades of bad, but in the spirit of exercising my democratic rights, I will be voting Obi.

But seriously, can any obidient explain what is so secret about Obi's solution to security that he stated "but I won't be able to disclose it" about 5 times in the interview. And also the elephant in the room question Nigerians failed to ask Buhari in 2015, "why hasn't he shared the magic formula with the government?" (assuming there is one).
I am not an "obidient" and will never be, but to answer your question, Obi has been vehemently warned to stop scoring own goals by speaking in the rubbish when asked questions beyond him, he has been advised to always default to "but I won't be able to disclose it" when faced with such questions.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m):
Every free floating currency is performing poorly against the dollar except those countries with foreign reserve to artificially prop against the dollar. Dollar is about the third best performing currency this year. That's because stockmarkets which have been pumped on steroids since the Quantitative Easing at the start of the pandemic are now selling those stocks into dollar. Marketcap of American companies is circa $40trln. If a quarter of that money flees, that's $10trln looking for a place to go - and a lot of it will go into dollar, some into bonds etc. Forget what you heard, Nigeria nor any third world country does not have enough foreign Reserve to keep up with the dollar. I believe like Nihilistjnr said, the rate of spending Emefiele was doing to keep dollar parity was becoming too much. For context, that money Emefiele was spending ($3bln every 2 months) is equivalent to $18bln a year if he continued, which is equivalent to half of FGs annual budget. Of course, Foreign Reserve does not make up part of the budget but the comparison to budget gives some context.

Almost every other country is struggling right now from losing ground on the dollar. Below is the US dollar index DXY against a basket of blue chip currencies.

You believe that Nigerian citizens will hold their government accountable and not make excuses for them?

LMAO.

I trust the government. They are very smart and they'll use the boiling frog approach. They'll increase it gradually till when Nigerians get used to things.

Things didn't get as bad as this under Jonathan before people protested.

Now they keep on adjusting and smiling.

If they told us in 2015, that 1/3 of the things happening then will happen now, all of us will say it is a lie.

But Tinubu isn't strong and healthy enough for the rigors that the Nigerian presidency demand.

I agree with you that every currency is below the Dollar at this time, Euros for the first time since I have been following fell below the dollar, Pounds is 1.22 Dollars. Nigeria defending the Naira will wreck us quicker than anything else.

Meanwhile I have been waiting for you jare.
What is your guidance given the interest rate bump today? Whats the direction to go in the current market?

The 75 was expected given that was their previous guidance and they didn't give any indication to the contrary. If they were going to do 100, they would have indicated earlier as they don't like to shock markets. My long term outlook is still bearish till end of 2023,, but I think we will have a mini rally for the bulls in August as there are no calendar events to cause uncertainty. GDP print is tomorrow and inflation print is Aug 11, and Fed is going on holiday till September so I think the market will party small after inflation print on Aug11 until Fed return from holiday, unless inflation print is so disastrous as to make Fed call off their holiday. Anything under 10% and Fed will continue their holiday.
