In church today, the teacher was talking about the sin of disobedience and greed.

Lot's wife is an example of disobedience. But I'm trying to understand what is sinful in looking back.

The rich fool is an example of greed. I'm also trying to understand what is sinful in expansion

the sin lot's wife committed was disobedience. God instructed them not to look back... Looking back has two dimensions: 1 CRAVINGS for what she left behind and the temptation to go back.. 2. DOUBT obligated her mindset and hence it prompted the look back.

In the scenario of the Rich man,
GREED motivated his expansion..
But the his expansion was only achieved through covetousness
If you read ur Bible in Exodus 8
Where God gave Moses the ten commandments, one of the commandments says Thou shall not covet

Unlike what you are fed by your pastors and mogs, Sin refers to direct disobedience or transgression of God's given command. It isn't arbitrarily defined as it is as laid out in God's Law. In the case of Lot's wife, the angels of God asked them not to look back but she did hence disobeying God's Law given to them.

In the case of the Parable of the rich man, the mention of the Law of Moses makes it clear that the Law referenced was God's Old Covenant Law of Moese which is also the National Constitution given by God to the Nation of Israel in the Land of Canaan. So, you would need to consult the details of that Law to find out the sin the rich man committee there. If you look in Ezekiel 18 vs 1 - 33, you will find a good lead on what the rich man didn't do hence sin held against him by his refusal to feed even Lazarus.

Now for you who claim to believe in Jesus Christ, God gave a different Law to you from that which He gave only to Israel and from that which He gave to Lot. That Law is called Jesus Christ and contains approximately 100 commandments and also teachings which you are meant to know this through continuous submission and obedience of the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ. It is only by KNOWING this Truth that you can then be set free from slavery to sin by the Truth, Jesus Christ - John 8 vs 31 - 35. So you are better off spending your precious time reading through the 4 Gospels and leaning the details of the Law which you will be judged by, rather than going on about ideas which don't apply to you at all.
