Well, Igbos think differently we make wherever we set our foot our home. In case you don't know, There are China towns all over the world. The Chinese are not afraid to build towns and cities in Europe and America. Why should the Igbos be afraid to call Lagos their state?
It's already happened. No other tribe enjoys Lagos as much as we do

Do you think we don't want you to enjoy Lagos? We want everyone to enjoy Lagos. In all the cities I've been to, the Chinese do their business they prosper. Even in some neighborhoods you will think there are only Chinese there but I have never seen them get into unnecessary conflicts with their hosts.
The choice ultimately is yours, live peacefully with others in Lagos or continue to nurse the illusion that it will turn to Iboland.

Talking about living peaceful, almost every time 2 tribes are having blood shed in Lagos, it's between the Yoruba and Hausa.
The Igbos have been about the most peaceful.
I never said Lagos is not a Yoruba state but it's as much an Igbo state.
Lagos is already Igbo land for millions of Igbos

Isn't that great. Next step is to make Iboland as accommodating for all Nigerians as well. Obi failed to do that in Anambra but today you are asking us to make him the president of Nigeria.
Bola Tinubu who went extra mile by appointing ibos into his cabinet is being discredited by the same Ibos.
Under Obi, Ibos from other states couldn't work in Anambra Civil service. Se I lie?

Most of my family was living in Lagos before Tinubu thought of being a governor.
You have never been to Anambra so how do you know that Obi failed. If he failed how come the Anambra people are supporting him in numbers.
Lagos is what it is because we the Nigerian people made it so. Same with Abuja.
Lagos was not developed by Yoruba, Abuja was not developed by gwari. They were both developed by we the Nigerian people

We call Lagos no man's land because all tribes came together to build Lagos. The Igbos have given to Lagos as much as any other tribe.
There is a reason why we don't call Ogun or Oyo states Igbos states. But Lagos, that's our sixth state.

Lagos was already a successful port city even before Nigeria was created. This type of statements is quite revealing about your mindset. A lot of you are are not contented with living in Lagos like all the others folks in Lagos. You covet Lagos, you want to make it Iboland and I don't need to tell you this a pipe dream.
Lagos has given to Ibos what Iboland has never been able to give to them, this is the truth. Not the other way around.
As for not claiming Oyo or Osun, we are not oblivious to your presence in every state in Yorubaland, not only Lagos.
But consider this a privilege as long as Nigeria remain one country.
Is Iboland welcoming to other Nigerians? This is what you need to ask yourself.

I don't know when Nigerians will rise above the stupidity of insinuating that a fellow citizen is a "guest" in a part of his own country where he lives, pays his taxes and and exercises his universal suffrage as regards to voting. While the other citizen is the "host"? What a load rubbish!

Yet the same Nigerians would flood the UK, US etc., and demand citizenship and be given. Then they buy houses, demand mayoral seats of the cities. And equally access to social security and all given to them. Then in their stinking homeland Nigeria, they deny each other lucres of citizenship. What a set of monsters are these creatures?

Is there anyone stopping the other from acquiring properties in any part of Nigeria? NO.

Lagos has always been the Nigerian commonwealth and so it shall remain FOREVER. The 1911 census captured a significant population of Igbo, Hausa and other tribes in LAGOS.

Notable Igbo family like the Ojukwus, Hausas like the Dantatas, Bayeros and Ribadus. The Legema family of Benin and the Edewors of Warri had all established their presence in Lagos and drove their Rolls Royces on the streets of the city. Nearly 100 years ago.

Yes, Lagos is in Yoruba land, no doubt. That said, it is an insult to call any Nigerian a guest or "migrant" as Tinubu did in 2003 which caused an uproar. Every one should thread carefully on the issue of Lagos. The city evokes emotions on every Nigerian. The election results therein will always reflect its history. Tinubu is a new comer to Lagos history and people must know this fact.

Yes the Portuguese and latter the British and the Nigerian people made Lagos.
It's not a privilege to live, do business and build in any part of Nigeria.
I don't owe the Yorubas for doing business in almost every western state. I have employed a number of Yorubas. I am grateful for their service and I pay them in return.

Load of rubbish! Haven't we seen cows being killed by Yorubas in Yoruba land. Odutola tyres established the biggest tyre retreading company in Eastern Nigeria at Onitsha Bridge head before the civil war started. He sourced for land and got one. Enough of all these rubbish. Ibo states are shutting out other Ibos from other states and you are ranting about competitiveness. Where in Nigeria is more competitive than Lagos/Ogun states?
Lagos cannot be our commonwealth if Enugu, Anambra, Ebonyi are exclusively for Ibos.

Anyway, it will remain the commonwealth which it has been. It is very unfortunate neither you nor Tinubu of yesterday will change it. The demography of LAGOS has been increasingly changing over the past 100 years. Poor soul. Good night

One truth that some Yorubas will discover very late is that... It is very dangerous to make Igbos too comfortable in your place because they will do anything to assume ownership and relegate their host. This is the reason why they are extremely intolerant to visitors in their own land.

How about you enjoy the privilege of Igbos in your land. Doesn't the average Igbo shop owner pay tax? Don't the Igbos buy property and do business with you? Don't we all profit from their presence? So how come you don't see it as a privilege. How come you don't feel excited when an Igbo man cliams Lagos as his state? You should encourage Igbos to be part of Lagos because they are an industrious, hard working and enterprising people.
There are many Yorubas in Igbo land. And just so you know, with the exception of Lagos, there are more Igbos in the north. Igbos are a traveling people found all over the world.
Finally, note, the Igbo man did not come to Lagos with a passport.

How is Lagos an Igbo State ? Are you foolish ?

You Yorubas sometimes act like fools by believing in your foolishness.

Lagos is a Yoruba state and nobody can change it, stop being foolish nobody is dragging Lagos with Yorubas not till eternity.

How many Igbos have became Lagos state Governor or Oba or LGA Chairman or Iyaloja or any other key leaders of Lagos? Why are most of you Yorubas so scared and cowardly towards Igbos that don't send you.

And stop all these Tinubu made Lagos this and that, who is Tinubu? Lagos made Tinubu who he is by stealing and looting Lagos money yet you fools worship a corrupt man like Tinubu that stole your treasury and giving you hungry lots paltry to hero worship him in the name of being Omoluabi or whatever that means.

Please let me repeat it again, Lagos can never be an Igbo state. Lagos is a purely Yoruba owned state and so shall it be till the end of the world. Igbos have no interest in Lagos. If Igbos do, they won't be asking for independence to go back and build their own nation, get that into your cowardly skull.

The only reason Igbos are many in Lagos is because of some reasons below:

1.) Lagos was the capital city of Nigeria for decades and most government institutions and organizations had their headquarters in Lagos so it was natural to migrate there for economic survival.

2.) Lagos was and still a port city that also doubles as a capital city cum economic hub of Nigeria so it was natural for Igbos known for trade to flood to Lagos to carry out their import and export business since the Nigerian government used one sided and divisive policies to make Lagos seaports the only viable and cheapest ports to carry out imports and exports, sending Calabar, Rivers and Delta ports to the back stage.

3.) Before now, Lagos international airport was the only closest Intl airport closest to Igbos. and Igbos are known for migration and exploring countries, so Lagos intl airport became the only option for them to fly in and out of Nigeria and to also bring in goods after they leave Nigeria.

4.) Foreign country embassies. Before now, Lagos being the capital city of Nigeria became headquarters of all foreign countries embassies and consular offices for Nigerians that wished to travel outside Nigeria to obtain other countries' visas. So it was impossible for any Igbo that wanted to leave Nigeria not to go to Lagos to get visa documentation.

So it was federal government policies that attracted Igbos to Lagos and it was federal government policies that favoured Lagos in so many economic reforms and stuffs that made Lagos the hub of Nigeria's economy it is today not one greedy, corrupt Bola Tinubu.

Ojukwu's father was the richest man in Lagos before Nigeria's independence, Tinubu has not been born then, so stop all those nonsense thrash about Tinubu did this and that in Lagos.

And for this, Igbos grew to become the second largest tribe in Lagos after Yorubas, and Igbos contributed immensely to the development of Lagos state to what it is today. Igbos made Lagos the hub of Nigeria's movie industry all thanks to Alaba marketers. Igbos made Lagos the hub of automobile spare parts in Nigeria and west africa, all thanks to Ladipo used spare parts market and Trade Fair ASPAMDA brand new parts market.

Igbos made Lagos the hub of computer and phone markets, all thanks to Ikeja computer village. and so many others that you already know.

But instead of you ungrateful Yorubas to cherish Igbos, you rather became envious and suspicious of Igbo people's growth and success in Lagos to the extent you cowards started hallucinating that Igbos plan to take over Lagos and make it Igbo state, how?

Have you heard or seen where Biafra agitators mentioned Lagos as part of Igbo or Biafra before ? Igbos abandoned their wealth and propertiers in Lagos in 1966 and went back to Igbo land when the war broke out, did they drag Lagos with you Yorubas? They didn't care about their wealth in Lagos yet they abandoned to go build a new country of their own and what did you hateful Yorubas did? You joined Northerners to fight Igbos and forced them back to join you in destroying what you call Nigeria yet you wicked lots still have the guts to tell Igbos to go back to their region.

How many times have Igbos made efforts to secede from Nigeria peacefully to go form their own country so that you Yorubas can peacefully enjoy your Lagos and Nigeria with your beloved Northerners, yet whenever Igbos make such attempts it is you same hatefilled and wicked Yorubas that will be insulting Igbos and attacking them and calling Igbo land barren and yet you don't want to see the same Igbos you hate secede in peace so you Yorubas can then enjoy your Lagos paradise alone without this useless greedy Igbos.

Honestly most of you Yorubas are naturally wicked and ungrateful.

You claim Tinubu appointed Igbos into Lagos cabinet, what does that mean, does it add anything to Igbo people's individual success? He is only rewarding some fellow corrupt Igbos loyal to him not that he wants to help the generality of Igbos. And you want Igbos to appoint Yorubas and Northerners in Southeast states, how many Yorubas live in Southeast permanently or own estates, markets, schools, industries, firms, etc, etc in Igbo land? Or you want Igbo Governors to go to Oyo to appoint Yorubas that refused to go to Southeast to do business or establish companies and build mansions and help in developing Southeast to become Commissioners, on what basis?

Listen and listen well, Igbos have no interest in taking over Lagos. All the wealth and investments and properties Igbos own in Lagos, they are ready to forfeit it once you heartless ungrateful Yorubas and Hausa-Fulanis allow Igbos to secede peacefully and go build their own country. Igbos are not afraid to start from the scratch again, but will you wicked souls allow that? NO!

Now because Igbos for the first time in history of Nigeria are massively supporting an Igbo Presidential candidate to help rebuild Nigeria from ruins that Buhari and his Yoruba political allies have plunged Nigeria into, you hatefilled Yorubas are bleeding from everywhere attacking Igbos, calling them names even when Igbos voted massively for Obasanjo a Yoruba man in 1999 and Anambra people voted massively for Abiola a Yoruba man in 1993 and even after Yorubas have produced President in 1976, 1999 and VP since 2015 you still don't want Igbos to have just one slot, you Yorubas still want to take Igbos turn while Igbos again sit down and clap for you.

God alone is the one that sees all these injustices and He will reward you all in your kind at the appointed time not long from now.

Igbos produced the last President and Head of State of Nigeria in 1966 while Yorubas have produced President and heads of stated in 1976 to 1979, 1999 to 2007, and now VP from 2015 to end in 2023. If anybody will be honest to themselves, between Igbos and Yorubas who should be desperate to produce the next President? Who should be accusing the other of hatred and trying to take their position in Nigeria?

Wicked ungrateful, envious souls!!

A wonderful piece! Some of these Yorubas are cowards and easily intimidated. Nursing uneccessary fears. I am Igbo, I moved to Lagos to process my visa. So I started working in a hospital there. The owner of the private hospital is a Yoruba woman she told me point blank she prefers Igbo doctors because they are industrious, ambitious, hardworking and can sustain businesses. I have already tendered my resignation letter because my visa is out. I enjoyed my time with her. I got a replacement for her as well. Without this forum I wouldn't even know this is the amount of hate most yorubas nurse in their heart. Let God be our judge!

It seems most of you Yorubas have inferiority complex and cowardice inside you.

It is really disheartening.

One of my elder brothers who happens to be a great production engineer with enormous experience in manufacturing production processes who was working as a top manager with a big fmcg company in Nigeria started his career in the southeast and became so popular as a result of his telent and competence which their foreign top management staffs saw and promoted him for. Later my brother got invited for instant promotion to head a regional plant situated in Southwest Yoruba land. He didn't applied oh, they invited him based on his experience to come help revive declining production at the plant and to boost the region's production capacity, after several rejection, he accepted when they informed him from their Lagos HQ that he may be fired if he continues to reject the transfer and promotion.

He has been there for some years now heading the plant, now the plant is ranking among the best ever since he came in, guess what? The Yorubas there are already plotting to eliminate him for no reason oh. Right now he is desperately working for transfer to any other region outside Southwest.

Yorubas just hate Igbos for no reason. They envy Igbos and it turns to suspicion that Igbos are plotting one thing against them and before you know it, they turn it to hatred which they start cooking up stories to backup and convince their fellow Yorubas that Igbos did this and that to them.

Like I said, only God and nature will judge and reward us all accordingly

History are meant to be made and records are meant to be broken. Let's see what 2023 holds.

Lagos will churn out highest votes in the country this time. I expect about 60% voters coming out of the over 7m registered voters.

Nations develop through policies, who makes those policies ? Government.

Igbo states can hardly develop to their full potentials with the current Nigerian arrangement and thats why Igbos want out to be completely in charge of their destiny so that if they fail they know they failed themselves and if their succeed they take the credit.

Under Nigeria, Igbos can't make policies that will decide the fate of our states to catch up with development.

How do you expect Southeast to develop under Nigeria when an Igbo man will still need to travel to Lagos to get visa, clear his goods, travel in and outside the country?

All government offices and even foreign embassies are located in Lagos and Abuja, so how will Southeast develop, and how do you expect Igbos to go back to their region and stay?

If Igbos have their own country, foreigh embassies will come to Southeast and build their embassies, all multinational firms will build their HQ in the southeast. Southeast will dredge our deepest seas and river channels to become deepwater seaports or inland seaports and have a collaboration with friendly neighbors to operate their seaports under a mutually beneficial agreement and an Igbo won't need to go to Lagos or Abuja to carry out those transactions anymore.

There will be busy international airports in the Southeast where Igbos can fly in and out of the country from without needing to go to Lagos or Abuja to fly in or out.

Imagine the railway Buhari built, no eastern region was connected, it is all an intentional marginalization to sabotage southeast region and by extention the Igbos. If Igbos have their own country, who will stop them from building their own national railway and even subway lines?

You come to issue of security, imagine among all the key security arms of Nigeria no Igbo man is heading any, so whenever there is a national security council meeting no Igbo man will be there to tell the security situation in the Southeast and how best to tackle it, is that fair and just to you?

Southeast has been burning is because the youths are angry and tired of the marginalization Southeast has been facing in Nigeria and reason they are taking laws into their hands to liberate Southeast from marginalization and take charge of their lives.

So its not as if Igbos cherish Lagos so much that they want to snatch it from the Yorubas, no. Igbos only cherish Lagos because of the opportunities there which were made possible by Nigerian federal government policies of many decades ago, and if Igbos are allowed to secede peacefully, they will have to make their own policies and build their own better version of Lagos in the Southeast from the scratch.

Igbos are only asking for level playing ground for all tribes and beliefs in Nigeria.

We are asking for secession not because we hate any tribe but because we hate how other tribes treat or relate with Igbos under Nigeria and wish to end all these tribal supremacy tussles once and for all via peaceful secession so all tribes can peacefully go and develop at their own pace for peace to reign.

If we cannot coexist in peace and love, why not we go our separate ways in peace than end up fighting tribal-religious wars every now and then?

This is the mindset of the Igbos and reason other tribes are hating on them but with time, God and nature will open you people's eyes to understand that what Igbos are asking is for the common good of all tribes that makeup Nigeria. Because there is no need forcing ourselves to live as one nation when we individually or collectively harbor hatred and suspicion for one another, it will only lead us all to perpetual anarchy and frustration that may never end well
