i was scrolling through a feed on Facebook and I came across a post about guns and the military enthusiasts were debating between the AK-47 and the M-16 AR which is a better weapon for extraction and the reason why it tend to be better than the latter.

We all know the current situation in our country and how the Nigerian military force are trying to subdue attacks from unknown gunmen/herdsmen and the rifle they are commonly seen with is the well known Ak-47 which got me thinking if the military higher ups cannot provide more better ammunition and military gadgets for their fight against insurgency? Why are there scarce in advance military grade weapons?

Is any reasonable fact about the Ak-47 better than any automatic rifles?

M16 is superior to AK-47, AK-47 is popular because it is cheap, easy to handle and reliable under harsh conditions...here in naija, security apparatus like dss are quipped with assault rifles like IWI Tar-21 and FN F2000 amongst others which are far better than AK-47. Navy SBS and Naf Regiment are also equipped with the IWI Tar-21 bullpop assault rifle. In 2018, 400 pieces of beretta assault rifles(Beretta ARX160) were procured for our correctional service, I see them almost everyday back den in NW. Nigeria's security agencies/organizations have weapons more effective than those of terrorists' but they're not being used properly...some years back, BHT attacked Dss' office in NE but couldn't stand the firepower coming from Dss, they had to retreat. Rifles like G36, FN Scar, HK-416, M4A1, Tavor-7, FN Fal, Zastava M80 and some I mentioned earlier are far better than AK-47.

If there were censorship of certain words on the naija firewall with the current happenings in the country, you would have been monitored and tailed. But this is a country where anything goes.

M-16 gatz longer range compare to Ak 47 but Ak 47 has more penetrating power.

The ak 47 is more preferable than the m16, the weapon is light, easy to operate and it does not jam easily. During the Vietnam war there were occasions where American soldiers wielding m16 rifle dropped their weapons and pick up ak 47 seized from Vietnamese soldiers.

Give me a Romanian ak47 with 9 drum magazine and I will single handedly take on the entire Babylonian army.

The M16 had a higher rate of fire, 700-950 rpm compared to the 600 rpm of the AK-47, and most shooters — including those that have used the weapons in combat — have tended to agree that the M16 is the more accurate. A trade-off is that the accuracy and range don't equate to penetration

AK-47 is more sophisticated and reliable in the battlefield.

M-16 AR has a better range and penetrating power.

I think you mixed it up. The AK is a "bang for the buck" assault rifle. The m16 has class. The AK has more power but lacks the range and pristine accuracy of the m16. You could snipe with an m16...try that with and ak and let me know (accidental discharge loading.....).
