Now I am regretting getting this nonsense prepaid meter . How can everyone be having electricity around except my house ?

I moved into my build on Sunday and since then I have been issues with my mojec prepaid meter. Every house around will be having light except my building , the meter will supply electricity for minutes and go off again .


Now there's light everywhere again except my building , I went to the PHCN office nearest to me and they said it's because the current is low what is the way forward , they can't say anything reasonable .


Please I need help abeg.

You are right. It depends on the size of his build. But then each one shouldn't take a whole square meter. Don't forget that up there are not perfect squares because they start and slope down.

A competent carpenter should be able to get him a good measurement/estimate. Actually if he has two angle irons put together, they can do the measurements and bending at the site to get it right.

But any off cut due to slope should be waste. Remember , the central idea is to have a whole straight sheet without joints, to prevent leakage.
Those rolls of aluminum sheets come in standard width of about one meter.
When you buy them, it’s going to be 1 meter width x whatever length you would need.

I understand. But cut offs had some uses in my own case.

The front of my build was only 6 inches above the roof from inside before the cap. So I made my assumptions based
on how mine was designed.

As inter alia stated, it is his choice. If he can't do it right, it does not worth the hassle of constant maintenance.

I just finished with the parapet and I think it’s right about being at the site with the workers for proper monitoring.. The parapet guy quoted 45 bags of cements and 45 cutter rods. Believe me, I bought 45 bags and he only used 25 bags for every thing.. I saved 20 bags already. I bought just 30 length of rods and it’ was enough .




That being said, I’m about to do the roofing and I also want to use stone coated shingles

My carpenter quotation is beyond my power. He justified it with original woods are expensive .


i want to ask if it is compulsory for the carpenter to go buy it? How can I avoid buying fake woods?



I’ll be going to get it on Monday hopefully ..

And finally, how can I spot the original stone coated gerard? and is it advisable to go buy directly from factory ??


Finally he charged me 200k for roofing of 3bedroom flat..

Pls help ..

On the issue of low VOLTAGE you are experiencing in your area presently is due to overloading on the transformer you have in your area. Your house is a bit far from the transformer location I guess and this low voltage is caused by voltage drop along the line.

You can install an AVR which is AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE REGULATOR.at the power intake to the building.

Above can only be done if your prepaid meter was not installed on the pole.

But those your neighbors using the old type of prepaid meter would be enjoy BECAUSE those meters hardly read on LOW voltage.

Also, you need to confirm the value of voltage you have before you order for the AVR and if you prepaid meter is 3-phase you must get a 3-phase stabilizer too

You needn't be in too much haste if your goal is to save cost. Get quotations from one or two more carpenters and compare.
Speak to anyone that's recently roofed his house because wood types are always dependent on your location, also find time to visit the wood market alone to do your survey and discuss with some of the wood dealers on quality and cost.
I got two carpenters for quotations, the first quoted 160 timbers, workmanship for 130k (rafter and roof installation) while the 2nd quoted 130 timbers, same workmanship for 150k. I decided to purchase just 95 timbers for the 2nd carpenter with the plan of buying more if not enough, you won't believe that the 95 timbers were enough with some leftovers - a similar case with your parapet's.
For the original stone coated Gerard, why not give money121 here the job as I'm yet to read any negative review about him.
Finally, you may also share your building plan here for the seasoned pros here to advise.
The above advice may not be the best but is based on my experience after I made up my mind to be monitoring my projects myself.
