The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Saturday, condemned the attacks against non-indigenes and law enforcement officials by terrorists in the South East, calling on citizens to point out the perpetrators for prosecution.

According to a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President was reacting to reports of the beheading of six Nigerien citizens and the brutal killing of some policemen at their duty posts.

He also urged community and religious leaders to speak more forcefully against the killings, stand up and defend the ethos of “our cultural and religious heritage”.

In the statement titled ‘President Buhari calls southeast killings sad and unwelcome,’ the Nigerian leader vowed that his regime will take all possible action in conducting a speedy investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Calling for their arrests he called for the help of Nigerians saying “Those who know should point at specific people who did this.”

Buhari also expressed his regime’s unwavering commitment to peace and stability in the southeast and the entire country, saying that the reports of killings anywhere were sad and unwelcome.

He offered his condolences to the families of the law enforcement agents murdered and to the government and people of Niger Republic whose citizens were cruelly beheaded by the beastly attackers.

Poo'hari and the supreme court governor are two evil bunch.

Anytime they hold their Coven of closed door meetings, weeks later , kaboom ! innnocent people are killed. If you are a lost soul, you will think the aim of the too many closed door meetings between the two will improve the security Situation in Imo state and find a lasting solution to the menace of kidnapping and killingss.

I aint no lost soul cos I know they are both the architect of the killings in the East as a whole

This was how after their closed door meeting 14 youths were massacred on their way back home from a wedding ceremony.

Since their evil Plans affected only Igbo youths there was no need for him to react.

Now that his plan with the supreme court governor was carried out on non Igbos, he is no more shocked but "decisive" and awake because he will send his "repentant" boko haram fulani Military to go and carry out genocide on the Igbos as usual.

Since the UN have told him categorically to release Nnamdi Kanu and that Ipob is not a terrorist organisation, he jas been holding series of closed door Meetings with the supreme court efulefu governor to cause more mayhem, carry out more killing by beheading the head of innocent Nigerians to prove that Ipob is indeed a terrorist organisation.

There have been Lots of kidnapping in the east and nobody is calling the shots. "Non-Igbos are now affected and suddenly poo'hari remembers the southeast.

If you are living around that axis, pls disappear from there,. because the "repentant boko haram soldiers who have been drafted into the Army will visit you with mayhem and genocide.

They are not coming to identify anybody because there is nobody to identify except poo'hari and the supreme court governor

He has foolishly boxed himself to a corner.

It is wrong to gruesomely murder people no matter what. Human lives should be valued at all cost.

Very stupid man.

You have never asked people to identify the terrorist killing and kidnapping in your state.

One was even turbaned and is well known in his community.

You are here with your ethnic baiting again asking people from the east to fish out criminals. If it's easy then we won't have boko haram, herdmens, iswap, bandits roaming freely.

Let the security agencies do their job.

Everyone knows since, after the presidential primaries, the agitation and killings in the east reduced drastically. Whatever killings are all government-sponsored and the facts are there for everyone to see.

When the east was very hot, the northern communities were never attacked, why now?

169 Nigerians are kidnapped in a train to Kaduna, Buhari becomes shocked, regretful, and then travels to Liberia for a conference on security!
6 Nigeriens are killed by agents of his supreme court governor, then Buhari wants the killers produced immediately?
Killing and blood letting is a sort of game to Buhari?

We can see from the comments above how Zombidients from that same barbaric zone are supporting the barbaric & callous act of their people.

Buhari administration has really exposed how intolerant, hateful, undemocratic and lawless this people can be. In fact I am more scared to be rule by Igbo man (God forbid) than a Fulani man.

U must be sick ... they should ban u from voting...u should be in a mental institution

Where were u when church goers were killed by fulani in owo inside church ?? Or the fulani killings in benue ... no day goes by without fulani killing or kidnapping citizens... as I said, u should be dragged into a mental institution

I have steadily been criticizing our media houses for not doing investigative journalism but I think I understand why now. It's so disappointing and disheartening to see NBC fine local media houses for airing the BBC documentary on the killings in Zamfara State.

Since this government is bent on gagging the local media, I call on the BBC and Al Jazeera not to relent in their quest to unmask the people behind the killings in the South East (focus on IPOB, Ebube Agu, and relatively unknown non-state actors), Benue and Kaduna States. What our government does with that information is entirely its business.

This is truly bad and south easterners should condemn such Barbaric act that is of Islamic origin. Igbos should not in any way attack innocent people living among them because it's never in their character. May they not go unpunished with this dastardly act they committed. May God console the families of the victims.

I condemn in its entirety the killings of those people, no matter their nationality. No one deserves to be killed in such gruesome manner..

I also call on the security agencies to be more alive to their responsibilities, fish out the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The federal and state governments should also sit up and stop the endless blood letting all over Nigeria..

Proudly Obidient...

While Obi is still pretending not to be aware of the atrocities of his ipob supporters. He is slow to condemn their heinous crimes to avoid losing the support base. However, the beheadings and roasting of heads by these folks gives me chills. Sometimes, they cut the privates away. How do these folks enjoy devouring human flesh?

What do you mean by Igbos should not attack innocent people living among them?

Have you not been observing the trends in Imo since this governor came on board? Was it not the same Imo state innocent Imo youths who went for traditional wedding were murdered in cold and which sparked outrage by the locals and protests for disbandment of Ebubeagu? Did you not read the intrigues involving DSS?

APC should be held accountable for what is going on in Imo. Innocent Imolites have paid heavily for this mistake of a governor.

Why always in Imo?

Regime - a government, especially an authoritarian one.

Now the military will go on a killing spree because their authoritarian general has spoken.
