And what did you call it, "consititution conference" which means it was merely to draft a constitution for an existing forcefully created association. Technically, the whole of West Africa was a British occupied territory, and had no say in whatever Britain wanted to happen.

Southern part of Cameroon was at that point jointly administered with Nigeria and they had the option to become part of independent Nigerian but they chose to be with Cameroon.
Ibos could at this point opt to secede from Nigeria but they didn't.

How did southern cameroon decide,
They were given a UN referendum. They made their choice using democratic instruments of freedom.
Why did they get this right. Because the original occupiers of there land had just been defeated in the second world war. Germany did not care, and supported their freedom bid at UN. Britain, a UN security council member does not allow you any say in their ocuupied territories which they term colonization to make it sound better.
