I understand there are traffic offenses and one has to obey the rules of the land but there is also a place for justice and fairness. I was coming back from a meeting at 2am yesterday and returning to my house to rest when I noticed my temperature gauge running high. I immediately pulled over at Kingsway bus stop. There was no water around, so the only option I had was to wait for a few minutes for my car to cool down. To avoid being attacked by miscreants, I locked myself in my car and also reached out to my mechanic at 2am. He told me he won't be able to come until 5am but I should wait until the engine cools down, start it and drive off. There was also no towing van in sight except the one from Ministry of Transport. Not long after, some officials from Ministry of Transport swung into action, without saying a word and without questioning my intent nor trying to get answers, and attached their towing van to my car and towed it away to MOT car lot at Ikeja, opposite Ikeja City Mall. I don't want to wait until I am ticketed and asked to pay a huge fine and it's already too late before I do this. None of the officials are available as I type (8:53am) and no one has attended to I and every other person who have been grounded. Please come to my aid and help me obtain justice. I have all evidences as well as witnesses who would bear witness to everything I have said. I also did not resist the towing officials nor had any altercation with them. The only thing I did was demand to know what my offense was as I was properly parked in the bus stop. If I am asked to pay for towing? Why not? But for an overheating car that I am trying to allow to cool down and had only being there for 5 minutes.. Please find attached picture evidences. cc lanrelagboi naptu2 jags001 stephanie11 Seun lalasticlala

Sorry about your experience, OP. I know this may sound off the point, but an intelligent and enterprising mechanical engineer based in Lagos should use your experience to their advantage. Someone should assemble a team of mechanics that offers 24/7 service to Lagos residents only. Assemble experienced mechanics who are ready to leave their homes and fix faulty cars anytime, anywhere in the state. People become rich when they solve critical problems of the society. I'm just thinking out loud! |

SmartPolician:So, if you're a mechanic, you'll leave your family at 2am to fix a faulty car not considering how unsafe Nigeria is at the moment? |

You cant be "properly parked" in a bus stop. Private vehicles or any type of vehichle are not to park in a bus stop You have to first realise what you have done wrong, it does not appear you understand what you have done wrong. |

chinchum:What would you have done, at 2am if you were in my shoes? And your car is doing overheating? Where is the best place to fix your car or get help on a highway? |

OP a 2hour wait was enough to move ur car to somewhere safer. All u had to do was put on ur AC to maximum heat. All in all I don't pray to stay in lagos ever again Finally stay away from midnight journeys unless ur wife is under labour |

Driggs:Guy sorry for your experience. You need to contribute to the internal generated revenue of Lagos state. They will give you thousands of naira fine. Next time your vehicle breakdown in Lagos, quickly come down and carry the vehicle on you head to your house or go on your knees and pray that Tinubu boys and their towing van do not locate you. If the towing van locate you, then you must contribute to Lagos internally generated revenue. Remember 10% of it goes to Tinubu and he needs the money for the forthcoming election war. Once again sorry. But just look for the phone number of their head and lay your complain to him, do not agree to be ticketed until you have spoken to their boss. Once the ticket is issued, you must pay. Welcome to Lagos where cars are not allowed to breakdown without a fine. Last month I met a lady that was given 30,000 naira fine because her car ran out of fuel and stopped on the road. |

Driggs:I would recommend calling tow truck to take your vehicle to the nearest mechanic. I dont know about Nigeria but in the US they up all night working. If all else fail ask call the police and see if they have some city service that can tow away your car to the nearest shop. |

Blue3k:A govt official was telling me that US and UK isn't Lagos.. if a towing vehicle arrives wherever your car breaks down, you will pay for the cost of towing and also an offense must be pinned on you as long as your car isn't in your house. Please help me get out of this country bro.. I'd be forever grateful to you.. I can sell off my car to be able to afford my flight |

Driggs:Oh well lagos sucks in comparison to those places. The traffic rules always tyrannical. I really feel bad for you sir. All I could say is fight it court if you have time. Maybe the court will wave the ticket money I don’t know. SmartPolician:I think it be easier to simply have 24 hrs private towing services. The can just park car in mechanics lot then you call the mechanic in the morning. Earthstorms:Well these leaches only exist to generate revenue for the state. If the car is pushed out the road she could walk to a gas station and refill. Better solution give her a ride help her out. Lagos could copy other places that provide limited services for emergencies like Texas.

JAGS001:Mr Jags, this is a clear case of overheating.. not fuel shortage.. why change the narrative? If your car overheats at 3am, what are you expected to do? Keep driving? Or find a safe place, like in my case, a bus stop to tend to your issues and move along? Don't you think you should be fair? |
| Re: Dear Gov. Sanwoolu, What Can I Do At 2am When My Car Is Overheating At Bus-stop? by JAGS001(m): 6:52am On Aug 13, 2022 |
Driggs:Sorry sir you are not getting it please try to get it right, if your car is overheating to avoid been toll by lag task force you can drive your car into a nearby area for it to cool, not in a bus stop or Fed road, you can't tell me the car was stopped at the bus stop immediately it was discovered to be heating, that is the practice of other developed countries I think Lagos government are doing good for this reason you don't see people packing their cars anyhow on the Fed road or highways and it makes Lagos looks beautiful, thank you. |
