Cedric just collect bullet unnecessarily sha grin grin grin

In Arteta's Everton days, I just loved him as a player. It was when he joined Man city backroom staff as Pep's assistant that I now read why and I found out that he was really good in interpreting tactics and all that. And that even sometimes, him and Wenger will go through so many tactics, formations and sort and I'm like ... Wow!!
erm... grin grin it is not flop I want to use exactly. Wenger, Mourinho, Ferguson are some of the best coaches but you hardly notice then during their playing days. They're either bench warmers or backups but they made great coaches. You get now

Abeg make them loan lokonga to AC milan make Elneny step up or get another Midfielder or make Viera and Zincheko step up there.

Teneiry should be used for tough matches while Zincheko can be used for less tougher ones like Fulham, North-Forest, Southampton, everton

I wish Lokonga can stay for squad depth but with possible Midfield additions incoming, I'm failing to see how he'll see game time

That news is fake. AC Milan won't sign Lokonga and he won't go on loan. The worst is a swap and cash deal with Tonali, which I doubt.

Lokonga was used as an understudy for Xhaka during preseason where he excelled with goals and assists. He is the reason Tielemans is not yet here. The club has now shifted focus to bringing in a backup for Partey (as Lokonga may not likely play there as we have seen)

When considering the tactical match-up, Arsenal likely have all of the conditions in their favour to beat Brendan Rodgers' Leicester. However, to do that, they'll need to be braver than they were vs Palace. The Emirates will likely help with that, but it's up to the players.

Leicester played a 3-5-2 against Brentford in which Ndidi was a single pivot with Dewsbury-Hall and Tielemans either side as #8's. The wingbacks pushed on high and wide and Maddison was a split striker off the left with Vardy on the right. Arsenal match up well with that approach last season, Dean Smith's Aston Villa set up in the same way and Arsenal completely dominated them. In fact, they had 55% of the ball and had 14 shots to 0 and we're 2-0 up at half-time.

This was enabled by Arteta's aggressive man-to-man pressing all over the park. Arsenal's wide players inverted, the centre forward took the middle centre back, the #10 dropped off onto the #6, Partey & Xhaka matched up in the middle of the park, & the fullbacks pushed on aggressively against the wingbacks. Arsenal will press in the same manner vs Leicester.

Qualitatively, Leicester are good and they have some superb technicians who can play out of Arsenal's press before using their ball-striking to spring Vardy in behind Arsenal's last line, but that's a risk Arsenal have to face in order to take total control of the game. If Arsenal are aggressive in their pressing they can re-create the game theme they conjured up against Villa and dominate proceedings through pressing. Yes, the risk is present when considering Leicester's technical quality, but their team is heavily 'to-feet' based. Vardy is the only player who'll regularly run beyond the last line. Castagne does too but he's not as high up the pitch when Leicester are building play so it's more difficult for him to make penetrating runs in behind.

Tielemans, Dewsbury-Hall, Justin as a right-footed left wingback, and Maddison off the front 2 all want the ball to feet which means they'll be facing their own goal to receive before having to turn & play out that way. That's beneficial for Arsenal because they can be aggressive. It's difficult to be aggressive against teams with lots of runners in behind because one wrong move and you're screwed (Liverpool, for example), but Leicester only have Vardy in transition. He's an excellent outlet, but his threat can be stopped at the source.

Maddison is basically playing as a midfielder because he wants the ball to feet so badly. It's in these moments where Arsenal need to be aggressive to prevent Leicester from having time on the ball.

Against Villa, Arsenal started like a house on fire, but dropped off. We saw that against Palace last Friday. Arsenal were unbelievably good early on, but became passive and dropped off. In a game at the Emirates in a favourable pressing match-up, this is a good time for Arsenal to show they can control games for longer than just 45 minutes. If they don't, they run the risk of Leicester forcing Arsenal back and sustaining pressure or directly exploiting their high line with little pressure on the ball, just like Anderson did with Zaha. Leicester have the players to pick Vardy out on the break. On the other hand, when Arsenal build play, Leicester set to press in a 5-3-2 mid-block. They are passive in the first line of engagement though, so Arsenal will have time & space in settled play to work attacks using their positional play high up the pitch & 3v2 in the build-up.

Where Leicester become aggressive is in man-to-man situations on the sides where the outside midfielder will engage the fullback if possible before matching up with the players on that side of the pitch aggressively. The likelihood is Arsenal will get success vs Leicester's block. Saka and Martinelli's high and wide positioning will keep Leicester's wingbacks pinned back unless Rodgers adjusts the press and the centre backs rotate to mark Arsenal's wide players before the wingbacks push on to press, but that didn't occur vs Brentford who built play easily. Leicester's disengaged 5-3-2 block will enable Arsenal to sustain pressure where their biggest method of chance creation through combinations on the sides to manipulate Leicester's man-marking or after quick switches of play either side of Leicester's narrow midfield 3.

When Arsenal build play down one side of the pitch space will free up on the far side for them to exploit Leicester's narrow midfield 3 block. Here Ben White or Zinchenko can step into the half space & cross, Odegaard can combine with Saka, Martinelli can get a 1v1 situation, etc Arsenal are one of the best teams in the sport at breaking down low blocks because of how excellently they combine & circulate play because of their superb positional play system along with the multitude of penetrative & creative threats they possess. They will excel vs the 5-3-2.

However, Arsenal must be prepared for any style because Rodgers and Leicester regularly changes tactics so Arsenal will need to be set for a variety of different situations but their principles remain. The game also won't be so linear with regards to the build-up. There will of course be long balls into midfield which initiate duel sequences and that's where Arsenal have to be successful to sustain pressure and/or exploit Leicester in defensive transition because if they're not, the combination of Maddison /Tielemans & Vardy is a scary one. There's many situations to consider, but what's clear is that Arsenal will likely have a numerical advantage in the build-up, pressing wise, AND when sustaining pressure against Leicester's block. They have everything they need to control the game with and without the ball. But the problem is they had superiority vs Palace as well & only used it for 20 minutes before falling back and being passive. Arsenal can't afford to do that again - they must learn to dominate games with the ball. They have the structure and quality to do so, but must be brave. When the game calls for control, remain calm and keep the ball, to force Leicester back. Guys like Saliba and Zinchenko will do that so it's up to Ødegaard, Ramsdale, Partey, White, & everyone else to be similarly collected mentally. They have all the advantages, but must use them.

If Arteta chooses to play Lokonga as the CM which he did last season then Tielemans will join but if as a right sided 8 which he did during preseason then he won't sign Tielemans. Lokonga performed excellently during preseason with dominance, goals and assists to show playing as an 8. Hence my doubts if we will still bring in Tielemans. What this has done is to create space for a backup CM for Partey. We may likely go for someone not yet known, probably about 25-30m worth.

Arsenal has interest in Tielemans but he is not a priority. He is just a cheap option. Why do you think other clubs are not coming for him? Man Utd are busy disgracing themselves looking for De Jong when Tielemans is there.

Lokonga had two goals and two assists in preseason. Is it too much? undecided

I never ever use this to guage whether a player is good or not cos different clubs have different needs at different times. I don't know why you guys like using the bolded most time even when you know a player is good.
And for you to think De Jong and Tielemans play similar role or Tielemans would play holding role at Man u is something that's even making me laugh sef.

And no, 2 goals, 2 assists isn't much for a Cm tho.

I've read this since and I'm impressed with his preseason games is one of reason why l said that he'll be a good squad depth but what will happen if arsenal gets Tielemans?

What you're doing is you denigrating Tielemans by calling him cheap or that he's not good enough reason why clubs aren't going for him. Like, isn't it somehow??
Everyone knows arsenal are seriously in for Tielemans and that's he's good and if he comes, Sambi is in trouble.

We're talking about possible Sambi chances if he arrives.
