The police team who detained Nasir El-rufai told him to his face that it was due to directives from the Inspector General of Police via the Governor of the State, Peter Obi. However, that was an infringement on el- rufai's guaranteed rights to freedom and unrestricted movement throughout the Federal Republic of Nigeria as according to the 1999 constitution as amended, but he chose not to sue since, according to his arguments, everything is fair in warfare.

I won't blink an eye if Nasir el-Rufai gives Obi his due compensation in Kaduna State, even beyond the rally and during elections proper.

Obviously, in warfare, everything is fair.
