In other words, if we remove subsidy now, it may reduce our chances of winning the election. Let's pay it for another 6 months so these bunch of fools and idiots can vote us in. Once we win the election, they can fvck off and go to hell
Keep calm, to my knowledge, all the candidates say they will remove the subsidy, Buhari is giving them an opportunity to walk the talk cheesy

Buhari wicked Sha, that is pure wickedness. grin

First off I think DSS like most of government agencies under this Buhari administration is like a rudderless ship ….. more like when the head is bad, most of the other parts of the body will suffer .

When I first read this news few weeks ago I took it with a pinch of salt and thought it’s just a mere propaganda to paint the DSS bad . I thought probably the girls were already few weeks preganant before their arrest and that the pregnancy only showed after months of incarceration .

I was waiting for the DSS spokesperson to come up with facts of the case I.e why they were arrested ( with evidence of their association with ESN as it was alleged) , the pregnancy test result putting their date of conceiving much more earlier than their arrest date and steps being taken as to either have them prosecuted if investigations did reveal they ESN members ( and not just continue detaining them illegally ) or whether they will be released due to their condition.

Alas, the DSS official position never came , instead all I read was a cut and join blog saying the girls were ESN members and that they had taken-in before their arrest and when the blogger contacted the spokesperson of DSS he said his boys and disciplined blah blah… blah.

I mean don’t these guys know the kind of dent such allegation has on the secret police ? Don’t they know anything about reputational risk? How do u let such news linger till date? Now we hear the girls have been relaeased, so arhat the end of the case ?

Now it looks as if everything we were once told about Buhari, how he’s a disciplinarian and all seems to be untrue

Just like blueraydick said I also thought the news was false
But DSS spokesman later confirm the girls got pregnant in custody but didn't explain how it happened

You're sure about this? I doubt they'll openely admit this but I hope to be proven wrong.

It's quite surprising that not one person mentioned Tinubu.

I understand the sample size is small and they may not even have PVC grin. It's also supposed to be a Kwakwanso/Atiku stronghold but PO is holding his own against them. Why not Tinubu?

By 2019, Osinbajo was in support of subsidy.
It's easy to talk, quote stats, and have solution when power is not in your hands, you are sure that everything you will do be successful.
Reality is often disappointing.

I am not too optimistic for 2023 elections, whoever wins, it's most likely same story, some people will just be more comfortable with who is power, that's all.

This is what I think and what my plan is. Make una no laugh me sha, part of it may be out of ignorance. Just my wild thought. cheesy

I am married, I can afford the cost of relocating which is study visa for my wife and me the dependant plus POF for 9 months.

My wife can do 20 hours of work per week and I work as long as possible as the dependant. I understand a realistic cost of living monthly is about 1200 pounds.

Now I'm very hardworking. I usually have no problems doing things people consider too difficult to do. Worst case scenario, assuming I'm unable to get a white collar job and I do a 10 pound/hour job, I can work 12 hours per day. That's roughly 3400 pounds per month. My wife earns 800 pounds per month. Total 4200 pounds . We are able to save 3000 pounds as a family monthly.

In 4 years( 2 years masters for her and 2 years post study) we have a savings of 144,000 pounds.

After 4 years, I'll switch to masters and she'll be the dependent which will allow us another 4 years of stay. She may not be able to work as hard as I worked. So let's say a modest 40 hours per week for her and 20 for me. This will give us another 67000 pounds in another four years. Add together, we have 211,000 pounds.

Assuming naira maintains it's current rate against the pound at 840 naira, that's 180m.

That's more than enough to live a good life back in Nigeria if we have no means of staying back in the UK.

I have checked job vacancies in the UK as it relates to what I do here in Nigeria and I should be able to slot into the job market without issues . The job need not give me sponsorship I don't care.
However, I'm working with a worst case scenario that we never get a good job and just do basic low wage jobs in 8 years.

If we get jobs with sponsorship, fine. If not, we come back to Nigeria better than we left.

Again, just my wild thoughts grin. Reality may be different from all of these grin
Factor in not more than 50 hours per week for yourself (UK have working time directives that limit maximum hours worked). Work that at £9.18 per hour, and take away 30% off that for tax and National Insurance. Then increase your monthly living expense to £1.5k and drop Naira exchange to N770 and you'll be closer to a more realistic scenario. Assume no children in all these cos childcare costs won't allow you work at minimum wage

Which Ireland are you talking about? Because the Republic of Ireland is certainly not under Great Britain and has a different immigration policy.

The reason I asked that is because itsrm said he won't vote in 2023(because wike is not the presidential flag bearer of PDP), so if wike order PH people to vote for a particular candidate, will he vote?

You can drop the tax assumption to 20% as the first £12.5k is tax free.

Given what I know of Nigerian security agencies, I believe the girls.

You don't want even your enemy to stay in police custody overnight never mind for several weeks
Except you are a rich and influential detainee
If you know what students arrested for Aluta face in police custody.

Imagine Nigerian police with young girls children of nobodies. That's free food and entertainment for them. Tagging them as ESN makes then even worse

If they were boys I'm not sure all of them will come out alive

That's the reality of Nigerian police
