simple the oil money has been under the control of mostly Northern Fulani Leaders, whose original country of origin is either CHAD, NIGER, OR SOMALIA. unfortunately they have been deceiving the HAUSAS that the money is coming NORTH, but then they use the back door to send it to thier original FULANI country.

now is ATIKU looks strong to win 2023 elections, his brother is a senator in cameroon, let that sink in.

the HAUSAS should know the southerners are silently watching them, when FULANI empty all the resources and migrate to thier countries, they will settle our score with them for being Dummies

Mr man Atiku will be next president Inshaallah, no matter your propaganda.

agreed, tax must be paid by people to govt to sustain a system but with the govt fully focused on looting the oil funds there can't be any structure to build upon. Instead people are running to get a piece of the oil loot and leaving fewer hands with the an increasing burden of productiveness.

Oga it's average ... people makes billions a month in Nigeria they would pay 100s of millions so they would average it out

And how many people make this sir... these billions you talk about....
And I don't mean government billionaires because that is NOT PRODUCTIVITY, but round tripping, i.e collecting government money and giving little back to government in so called taxes.

Ask yourself, how many so called billionaires in Nigeria INDEPENDENTLY CREATE WEALTH, particularly wealth that comes in the form of foreign exchange which is the true position of productivity, how many.

Are you not aware of the stark report that over 90% of Nigerians have less than N500,000 in their accounts.
That is a nation with less than 50% of its citizens even owning a bank account.
Mt friend this nation is very, very poor.
There is no way in the world that 5% of the population can float the poor on their own in the system we operate even if all their resources are cornered.

Be real. We are a homely, extended 'familyesque' society.... yet it has done nothing to touch poverty even with an average man with a job/business indirectly feeding twelve.... absolutely nothing.

We need a complete change in orientation, a change in philosophy to get Nigeria out of big trouble.

That's a very myopic point view, we are competing with nobody and we don't need 150k tax to develop. Abuja is developing without 150k tax, same as Lagos, go and check Ogun state now. We just need sincere leaders who can take us one step ahead at a time. Rome wasn't built in a day!

Stop fooling your own self. We are already bad and the report only tells us in.plain terms. So much wealth and so much poverty. If so, where is the money? That's a sensible question and not a report to make someone look bad but one to savage a situation.

That post probably isn't detailed enough that's why you don't get it. We need tax from people to govt and accountability. Oil money is stagnant against an increasing number of mouths and the idea of excess wealth effectively ended in the late 70s. Today divide our economy plus budget by 200 million people and you get poverty. Only those who steal other peoples share or are extremely industrious rise above that poverty.

So you think we have a 50% accountability for the tax we pay currently? Why increase the taxes when we aren't even accountable for the tax we're currently paying? The standards of living are low and the people are broke. Increasing taxing is unreasonable and only leads to anarchy.

We need to have atleast 90% accountability for the tax we're currently collecting. Too many loopholes and tax frauds starting from the lowest level. Like officials over taxing market women for personal gains or big men hiding their wealth.

You’ve hit the nail in the head. We are too many for the revenue being generated by the government. I do think the fallacy of oil money means the average Nigerian think we are rich.

Even if we eradicate corruption 100%, Nigeria will not turn to Dubai until the government increases revenues significantly.
Then first eradicate corruption before talking of taxes.

Exactly what I have been saying for years and shouting from the roof tops when we they were flying Mr. Buhari's anti corruption toga like a kite. We told them that corruption was not the problem of Nigeria but STRUCTURE, one not attuned to productivity.

Can you remember the infamous Obi's debate with Mr. Osinbajo and the tale of the rats in the shop.... grin
I bet Mr. VP will be gobsmacked at what has befallen Nigeria after their anti-corruption crusade and the 'wealth' it has brought Nigeria.... grin

And where will revenue come from if not productivity, the productivity primarily anchored in the roots of industrialization from which all other branches of the economy spring forth.

And where will industrialization come from, what will trigger it, yes, big budget infrastructural expenditure and here lies the twin follies of poverty that has crashed our economy today.

Our industrialization drive and infrastructural spending failed to meet our biggest wasteful expenditure, we did not invest in petroleum refining insisting on railways instead and after borrowing heavily for that, we gave everything over to the chinese to build robbing us of the industrial trigger required to build a productive economy.

This is where intelligent, visionary leadership is critical. Leaders who know INDEED how to create wealth, how to build economies from scratch, how to wean this country from consumerism, rent-seeking and round tripping....
So lengthy but with no single sense.

1. that is the figure they gave, is that the amount they truly made from oil?

2. is oil our only source of revenue? can they tell us the exact amount they collect on tax alone and you will be shocked. Almost everything in Nigeria is being taxed but are Nigerian seeing the result of the tax they are paying?

3. Nigeria has a lot of resources, some in huge deposit, why are they not contributing, we have large deposit of gold, how much is it contributing.

Nigeria is super rich, leadership and corruption are our major problem and until we get that right, forget all these cooked figures you see
