BREAKING: ASUU NEC Set To Meets Over Resolution Of Ongoing Strike 

The Academic Staff Union of Universities‘s (ASUU) National Executive Council (NEC) is expected to meet on Sunday night which will slide into Monday morning.

Members of NEC would decide if they would continue the six-month strike or call off the lingering strike.

Recollect that ASUU commenced a nationwide industrial action on February 14 and has refused to end the strike due to the failure of the Federal Government to attend to its demands.

There are speculations that the federal government might proscribe the union following its stand not to call off the strike.

Students and parents are expectant a positive report from the meeting, after several calls for lecturers to resume.

There had been reports that various ASUU branches held their congresses last week with the majority voting for another rollover of an indefinite strike.

ASUU has lost relevance and glory, hence the factionalization of the union.
They would just have to reluctantly call off the strike otherwise the crack in the union will continue to grow as many state universities/branches are already pulling out of the unproductive industrial action.
The governments at all levels must be decisive with these despotic lecturers who doesn't mean well for our education.
Health workers and Lecturers are hypocritical in their approach. A medical practitioner would establish private hospital and will not pay the staff minimum wage, but will shut down government hospitals for months over salaries. This is what private universities also does, their lecturers are paid even less than government owned institutions, yet they charge exorbitant fees.

Shut up, if you have nothing to say...The real question is why would govt sign an MOU to be carried out on or before march and not honour it...same thing happened with the doctors

It's the decaying system we have as a nation. ASUU faults FG whereas they're the ones that rigged them into power.
It's so unfortunate that it's the poor students that face the brunt of this ego fight between FG & ASUU.
