There was no curse with the number. It was the decision Umtiti took to take a bad knee to the world cup that has costed him ever since, even after being forewarned.

He traded his knee to the world cup. Yes he won it but it has now costed him almost everything.

Remember that prior to the world cup, Umtiti was being touted as the next Puyol but now he is banished to a Seria A strugglers to try to rebuild his career after a very bad decision.

Why starting the a Midfield of Gavi and Pedri, which had not brought any productivity, when we have a lot of options in the squad like FDJ and Kessie, even at that Gavi is not supposed to be starting over FDJ or Kessie, he is still growing .
