Police in most countries I've been to will you along lonely roads or at odd hours and offer to drop you off at your house. If your car breaks down at lonely corner, they will mount guard for you. The other day, one waited for 3 hours at night to ensure that the car got fixed successfully.

Nigerian police see you at an ungodly hour or lonely road, the next thing on their mind will be how to extort you, rob you, murder you or frame you up. Very devilish set of people. I hate them

Yes, but the fools supporting the officers on here are making it seem as though those police officers were professional throughout that unfortunate event.

If you check their NL history, you'll find that most of those painting police officers as angelic are the very APC e-rats who supported the shooting of innocent civilians at the Lekki Toll Gate. I see some of these rogue elements mouthing off already.

But the first say you step your foot on Nigeria, even from the Airport, you will encounter bad cops trying to solicit bribes. This you will encounter everyday you step out from your house.

Look at the Police structure in each of these countries compared to their counterparts in Europe, no Police constable in Sub-Saharan Africa is paid above $100 a month! I know some countries that pay $50, how do you except them to function? Just because you're in Nigeria and think it's not the same elsewhere. Should I tell you the level of corruption in some places I've been to, you will weep. Even if you are found guilty, It's all about the mulla and the volume of the settlement you're willing to pay, black man Police force in Kenya is not different from the one in Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe is not different from the one in Malawi, Gabon, Congo, Togo, your neighboring country here Benin etc. They're all the same everywhere! What will you say of a friend of mine that got USA visa for a scheduled seminar, arrived Lagos a day to travel and decided to take friends and relatives for a night out at Lagos Island. On their way coming back, handy small bag that contained traveling documents was snatched and that ended the trip.

when I came back to Nigeria about 10 years ago, I couldn't survive Nigeria, I tried Ghana, lived in Ghana for 2 years plus, tried SA, visited all the neighboring African countries and some countries in the Eastern flanks of Africa before moving back to Europe. Somehow, I'm very hungry to reside in Africa but Nigeria is not for me, and I might never visit again. Looking into a good African country to reside permanently while I officially kick off my digital nomad lifestyle
