A friend that stays in a neighbouring state stole some cupper scrap from a scrap dump. (I didn't know about it) He told me he wanted to come back home and requested for my account details so he could send some money because he couldn't be traveling with a huge cash and his personal account has issues.
This evening, I got the news that the guy has been arrested for theft. Though I've given him his money but I'm still afraid. Can I be arrested because the cash had contact with my personal account? Is unlawful for someone to send money through another person's account? What could my line of defense be should they come for me??

Lawyers in the house please I need urgent suggestions.

You gave him back all the money he sent, there's nothing on you, long as you are sure you know nothing about it, stand your ground don't fret..

If the money is still intact, ur case is minor but if not, u re on a long thing....

You don't really have any case to answer since you gave him back the whole money he sent to your account. My fear is just that Nigeria police doesn't use there senses in this kind of case . Since you are involved in the transaction, you might be arrested and pay for you will be released if not jail

My advice .. get a lawyer to go to the station and give your statement .. they are probably already tracking you..

If you know the thief, report and bait him to prove it or else you are the thief and just want to know if you can be picked up for the transfer.

Don't spend the money, they would eventually ask you to refund it back as damages to the owner of the scrap yard.

He gave me nothing bro. He just told me he wanted to travel cashless and transferred it to my account. When he came back, I transferred the money to a POS agent where he withdrew it. I even spent my money on transfer charges

He has been arrested. It's just that the money was sent to my account which I've given it back to him

Go and get a very good lawyer.

Just chill for now. Just pray he doesnt mention ur name during the course of investigation,cos me might try to put u down with him. Some people are like that. Just pray police recovers all the money from him or else..they will trace the acct to you and you might need a lawyer and some monies to get out of this safely

The Nigeria Police will likely arrest you if they get a hint that the proceed of the deal was transferred to your account and a lot will depend on your friend to absolve you of complicity in the cable theft....... If you are charged to court, that's another kettle of fish
