“Now you begin to look at what is going on; the Peter Obi factor is as if he is trying to go through the church and make it look as if he is driving the Christians into politics. I do not believe that the church should actively go into politics because that is not their calling”.

What an unlearned comment from the governor of a state. One is forced to ask Okowa what he meant by church. Is the church not populated by people? Does he look at the church as just a building? Does Okowa not expect members of his own church in Asaba to vote for him to become the Vice President? What are his fears about Peter Obi’s campaign? How is it that they are all seeming troubled about Obi’s style?

Does Okowa understand what it means to mobilize voters? Does he still live in the past where mobilization meant giving bribes and using thugs to muzzle legitimate voters at the polling booths? How does Okowa expect the old electoral malpractices to continue endlessly?

The northern politicians campaign in Mosques and use even children as voters. You cry after losing to them that there were child voters. If they can do so, why can’t Christian candidates campaign in churches? What is Okowa’s problem with Obi? To Okowa it is not the calling of Christians to participate in politics, but rather remain passive and watch while some reckless persons lead them.

Okowa should please face Wike that he cowardly stabbed in the back to achieve his goal. He should tell the southern governors how after their meeting in Asaba last year and agreement to secure ONLY southern presidency for 2023, he negotiated with Atiku to become the candidate. While he ruined the PDP southern candidates chances with his greed, APC governors ensured theirs worked.
