Why Are There Not Developed Towns In Delta And Bayelsa? by Aderewah: 8:13am On Sep 01, 2022 |
These states are in the top three highest earning states in Nigeria with very low populations. They have the ocean at their doorstep to develop fishing industry. They have oil in abundance. We hear news of developments in lagos daily. Why do we hear of nothing in these states? 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Brimstone77: We are not asking for beer parkour talks. We know states with better secondary schools and universities. We know states with highest igr. We know states with highest numbers of companies and jobs. We know states with highest number of GRAs, hospitals, and many more indices of development. We know Warri and Asaba are behind places like kaduna and Kano not to talk of Ibadan, Abeokuta, osun and even ondo states 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Asgard73: Have you been to the south south? Besides Lagos, there are no cities in the West. You can quote me. There's no point arguing. Just Google aerial view of UYO, PORT HARCOURT, ASABA, CALABAR. And compare it with ABEOKUTA, IBADAN, AKURE, OSOHOGBO, EKITI. NO POINT ARGUING, JUST SEE FOR YOURSELF AND COME BACK HERE AND ARGUE. It's very easy to talk shhiiit when you've not traveled the country. Try and visit some places in the south and east and have real knowledge not assumptions. 14 Likes |

Aderewah: We know state like Ogun, Osun, Ondo and many part of Lagos can’t match up with towns, like Warri, Ughelli, Asaba, Sapele, Agbor. It will be good if you travel. You want us to talk about how Ogun is a terrible place to stay or how Oyo got to most brown roofs in Nigeria. Abi na the terrible infrastructure in Ikorodu, Ojota, Surulere, Iyanipaja. The only sane place in Lagos is Ikoyi not the slum you all live in lekki. 9 Likes |

And they will not hold their leaders accountable for their failed state, instead they will be claiming they develop London Dubai Singapore Lagos etc. The 30% derivative what are there governor doing with it? The NDDC to develop the whole of Niger delta, what have their appointed people done with it? Instead they will be monitoring others state governor failure, forgetting to hold their leaders accountable for their failure 2 Likes 1 Share |

andresia: Warri is far better than all the towns in Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti and Ondo. Remember some folks call Udu and Effurun Warri. I currently reside in Udu not Warri and the road from my house to my business place in same Udu is tarred. Almost all the roads in main Warri both inner and main are tarred. Iyara in Warri has very good road and it’s a slum. You can’t find the above in the over hyped Lagos and other state in South west. 3 Likes |

Do you know Ibadan is many of towns on south south combined? Lagos isn’t a town. Lagos has cities inside it. Ikeja is a city. Lekki is a city. citygarden: When you people make comment, I wonder if your Nigeria is different from ours. How do you hold your leaders to account in your region? The same leaders who manipulate the electoral process and even use security operatives to protect themselves? Have you ever recalled any politician who is not doing well in your region? When Fayose was going about using state resources on what he called stomach infrastructure, why didn't the state house of assembly impeach him? We have all agreed that Governor Abiodun of Ogun State is not doing well, how come he won the APC ticket and still getting ready to continue in 2023? How come he wasn't kicked out during the primary? I will leave you with these words... Nigeria is struggling with bad leaders and no region is an exception. Due to weak institutions, we just keep praying for people with conscience to come into leadership because if the evil ones hijack the system, there's nothing the people can do about it. So, stop this we-are-better-than-you attitude already. 11 Likes |

Aderewah: This question is in the Heart of every able youth from Delta State and Bayelsa State. I will do my best give my opinion on this issue! I remember in the early 90s how Warri in particular used to be! The NPA port was booming and every other things flows with it. A port situated at any town is the bed rock of that town. Everything crumbled when they began privatization during Obasanjo administration. Slowly Warri became a ghost town. Another issue is the State government! Delta State has the most tribes forming a State unlike some other states where you have just one or two tribes. Here in Delta we have about 6-8 tribes and they hardly corporate in terms of achieving development. People in State government that ought to fight for development to make Delta State be compared to the likes of Lagos are busy looting the State dry. Past Gov Ibori was the only governor who has impacted on Delta State since Democracy yet he even stole and was disgraced publicly and did jail terms. The Rural and Community leaders are another menace and a huge problem in Delta State. Their bad characters of not keeping their community youths in check drove almost all top oil companies like Shell Petroleum in Delta State. Today the State is just a revenue house to the Federal government, State government, local government chairmen and rural leaders while the people of Delta are subjected to serious poverty with no hope for tomorrow. There is no single known factory in the whole of Delta. People who are sitting on the wealth of Delta only know how to do two things with the stolen money; Build hotel, Shopping Plaza or Private school an average Nigerian can’t afford for their kids or they stack the money overseas in properties. My conclusion is the People of Delta State are being kept in the Dark by those representing them, not any Northern, Western power go under develop Delta State. Na our own people dey do us for this Delta State! OUR VERY OWN PEOPLE!!! 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Tinubu's cash forfeiture is staring them in the eyes korokoro but it's Niger Delta region that is their problem, let's pick any friggin scandal involving their political elite and what you'll get is a loud silence. Ask them what is even so fantastic about Lagos and they'll download an aerial view of Lekki/ikoyi link bridge meanwhile the only time 99.98 percent of any of these urchins will ever sleep on the island talk less of paying rent there is when they're stuck in traffic. Aderewah: How many persons are moving to Asaba? Why are some Nigerians so willfully ignorant and incessantly stubborn in their ignorance? Asaba has one of the far growing estate development in the South of Nigeria. Do you think that it's possible without movement of persons? When did Lagos equate to the whole of SW? Of recent it's getting harder to see online Yorubas from Osun, Ekiti and even Ogun State, all Yoruba persons seem to originate solely from Lagos. Telling you to travel and see is correct, armchair analysis is self deceit. 5 Likes |

Bayelsa state main revenue source is oil, but the state is not allowed to keep the revenue from the oil in the state. If Bayelsa state was allowed to keep the revenue generated from the oil in the state, even if you combine IGR, CGR, and EGR of Lagos state, it would still not be up to half of Bayelsa state revenue. 4 Likes |
