Anybody can speak in tongue, what happened in Babel was speaking in unknown languages, "tongues" but wasn't spirited. what happened to the followers of christ aswell was speaking in unknown languages "tongues" but this time around, it was spirited as a result of divine gift they received....
I can open my mouth, make any sound or noise or saying and claim it is speaking in tongue, but is it spirited?

And from the etymology, we see clearly that "Speaking in Tongues" is used as a biblical collocation to mean "Gift of Tongues". This has and will continue to be the context. Nowhere is Tower of Babel mentioned.
