Arteta and Edu repeated the same mistake they made in January
Releasing players without replacement and we badly need squad depth
We have Europa and domestic cup competitions these our line up can't be playing all games plus our midfield is currently limited

This is not fair at all they like taking stupid risk playing with our emotions
Dont u guys have charlie pantino and others to be playing domestic cups and stuff..

Lol, I don't think it's wickedness. After watching a clip on skysports where one of the presenters was saying that arsenal really underestimated their "No stance" as they don't need Arsenal's money. Aston Villa is jointly owned by 2 billionaires with them worth around $12bn so what is 25m to them. Except we go for crazy bid, which obviously we don't do, Aston Villa won't be coerced in selling one of their best players and will instead prefer to lose him for free cos money no be their problem.

The thing is arsenal wasn't even interested in him from beginning. Na injury to Elneny naim cause all these things if not wetin concern dem with D.Luiz. If he was that important the way they were aggressively putting bids ystdy, arsenal would have wrapped up that position since
Arsenal actually went for him weeks earlier with £20m but Aston Villa refused to deal less than £40m. But Edu felt after our match with them he may force their hands on deadline day feeling they wouldn't want to lose him for free next year. But it seems Aston Villa chose to gamble between losing him and finding themselves in relegation battle by January.

After last season, I think we all agreed we needed another midfielder; an experienced one with quality at that. I kept harping on the need for that 2nd midfielder. It is quite disappointing, especially when you consider Partey's absence and a lack of another quality midfielder cost us top 4 last season. Now, we are without Partey, Elneny is also out and I am hearing Ramsdale is fighting to stay up.

The thing with Partey and his injuries is that they are usually muscular and he requires a lot of time and patience to fully recover. Whenever we rush Partey back, it has always back fired with serious consequences...If he recovers fully he typically returns like he was not gone. I feel like many are getting carried away by Xhaka. Personally, I feel like we are being short changed of a better CM when he plays that role. I am careful not be sound pessimistic because the guys have started very well and Arteta has managed our last 3 games very very well.

All in all, my focus is on United.
You are absolutely correct. I remember we all were united on the fact that we need someone as Partey's backup. It's so sad that it wasn't possible. Let's just hope Lokonga grin can turn to a prime Sergio Bousquet.

Sometimes it's situations like this that helps discover talent. Players like Bellerin, Saka, Nketiah, etc were all discovered at similar times as this.

For Bellerin, I remember we signed someone on deadline day who never featured due to injury and we had to manage Bellerin. So even when the player returned, it happened that we didn't need him anymore. Who can remind me of that player?

I might be wrong but something tells me the plan before hand is to get Luiz for free from next season. Luiz refused to sign an extension with Villa, while Arsenal extended Elneny contract by a year.... I suspect the combined injury of Partey and Elneny at the same time forced them to wanna bring Luiz early but it didn't work.

If my thinking is right, Arsenal will let Elneny go at the end of this season and get Luiz on the free and then shake their ass on Villa.

It will be tough, but I pray we survive the season.... I really want us beat Man U or at least get a draw.

My wish: make Top 4 and win The Europa thing once and for all, cos I don't want us play it again.
I don't think Douglas Luiz was the plan if not we would have gone for him immediately we heard of Elneny long term injury instead of the deadline day scramble we were doing for him. I feel it's Danilo of Palmeiras cos immediately we heard the unfortunate injury news, he was the first point of call. In fact, we only went back for Luiz when it dawned on us Palmeiras weren't open to releasing him till at least January. If we had went for Luis immediately, maybe by now he'll have been a gooner. And yes, while he will be free next season, Juventus and Athletico Madrid are even in the fore front before arsenal, so it's not as if we even had advantage over him sef.

I just hope we scale through and that Sambi really improves in that role. And hopefully most of our players with slight injuries come back quickly. And yes we need to win that Europa. Europa and top4 is the goal

Manchester United are really pumped up right now and our perfect start to the season is at risk. With Partey, Mo and Ode probably out, I can only suggest two different options.

Xhaka partnering Sambi with Zinch doing the inverted midfield role. Xhaka will be free to join ESR up top.

OR

White, Xhaka and ESR in Midfield. White dropping to defence while Zinch and Tomi overlap. XHAKA will drop back to Midfield.

One thing is sure, our attack should be able to trouble their defence.

As for their Midfield, they may likely go with Casemiro,Eriksen and Bruno which I think will work in our favor as the latter two are not press resistant.
Is Zinchenko available sef??
I didn't even see him either in the squad or at the stands. Hope say him never get setback embarassed

I feel we planned to get Danilo of Palmeiras at either Jan or next summer but injury to Elneny scuppered the plan. Moreover I thought Elneny's contract is up next season as he signed a 1-year extension

As for Saka deputy, we don't know how Marquinhos will play yet. I can't use the u-21 to judge him at all. Except if he shines in Europa will I confidently say Marquinhos is his deputy. As for Nelson, Una wey still dey keep hope for that guy dey try sha. He hasn't impressed me yet one bit, so I dunno how he'll be a viable Saka replacement. Is he even Left footed sef?. Maybe if Jesus can play there, but he himself isn't even left footed
My mind tells me Arteta will use Marquinhos and Nelson as the wingers in Europa and cup games, while Nketiah will be a general backup for the entire frontline as he can play across. If Saka focuses on PL he won't burn out. Nketiah can be a sub in PL but start Europa and cup games. We can only hope injuries won't scatter plans.

I believe it's rumor — a false news

Arsenal can't submit 20m and most of us here were crying about how arsenal was slow without making any moves in the transfer window around that time in June (before Viera signing). Nobody even reported ths news here especially with the way we were all hoping for a DM. Even no tier1 news/journalist carried the 20million bid by Arsenal? It's funny na grin

It's not everything that is open to public consumption. Even me self doubted the rumours seriously.

Do you know that most transfer are initiated with bids from agents and not the club's themselves which causes some of those rumours we hear.

As in, someone would go to a club and place a bid for a player on behalf of any club, if the bid is accepted they take it to the club they wish to represent for activation.

Most of us were even tired of Arteta playing DM then sef. The kind of performance Coquelin even showed was 10x impactful what Arteta was dishing that time.

Sambi would have to do 10x impact of what Partey brings. No be say Partey even dey off- form sef

Tbh, all these ones you're saying it's just you trying to wriggle your way out.

No how arsenal will bid an official bid of 20m for Luiz, Aston Villa will reject it and request for at least 40m, and one of Fabrizio Romano, David Orstein or Kayak Kayna would not have any idea of it or report it even if na secret cult.

No way!!!!! Never!!!
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 2:07pm On Sep 02, 2022
It's even funny thinking about it sef.

1.. Arsenal went with 20m in June, when Partey and Elneny was available.
2.. Aston Villa rejected it and asked for nothing less than 40m
3.. Arsenal now desperate in August due to Partey and Elneny injury still placed an opening bid of 20m AGAIN that was initially rejected

I mean, let's make it make sense. If this is true, arsenal fans suppose lynch Edu for playing with our head grin

Arteta on deadline day: Unfortunately in the last 72 hours Thomas and Mo got injured and we had to react in the market. We tried and at the end of the day we have to bring in the players we feel are right but we didn’t manage to do it.
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by ObaIgwe1: 2:49pm On Sep 02, 2022
Injury Update from Arteta:

‘[Aaron] Ramsdale and [Martin] Odegaard have been assessed and we will see more tomorrow.

‘Hopefully they’ll be available to train with the team. Alex [Zinchenko] missed two games and has not been able to train with team yet.

‘For Mo [Elneny], we are talking months. With Thomas [Partey], we are hopefully talking weeks and even shorter than that. We have tried to manage him. A lot has happened since he’s joined.

‘We are trying the possible way to find reasons for that. Unfortunately his body and mind are too difficult to und to put finger on to identify one factor. Attitude is there. He’s really disappointed and wants to get back.’

Pressed on whether he felt he had a squad able to cope with the demands of challenging on four fronts, he added: ‘We had a lot of things still to do with squad. Look at the departures compared to what we’ve recruited.

Arteta on not panic buying:
I think we have learned a lot from that. Look at still the players we had to get out. We have to be very disciplined because in those moments you can make mistakes that can cost the club a lot.
