Edu wanted Arsenal to have 25 players in the senior squad. He told ESPN Brazil what his plans were for the summer. He said, “I want 22 outfield players and three goalkeepers if we can afford it and don’t have to change the team as much as we have to.” Many things need to be set up, which takes time, so I expect to have a busy summer.”

Luiz would have been the 25th player on the team, but the club didn’t get him. This leaves the club short. The Gunners already have injuries and have to deal with four competitions, so it could be more complicated than it needs to be.

But what will help Arsenal is that the group has a lot of different skills? Ben White has already shown that he is good at this by filling in at right back and keeping Takehiro Tomiyasu, who is now healthy, out of the starting eleven.

When you look at the picture below, it’s clear that the Gunners have three players for each position. But to cover Mikel Arteta, nine of the eleven roles require a player to play out of work (highlighted in yellow in the graphic below).

The right-wing position stands out the most. Marquinhos and Reiss Nelson are both much less experienced than Bukayo Saka, and Reiss Nelson is currently out injured for a few weeks. This makes Bukayo Saka look like he is all alone.

Arsenal wanted to sign Raphinha earlier in the window, but Barcelona quickly stopped this from happening. Even though the club was linked to more wide players, they never came close to signing one, and Nicolas Pepe was still allowed to leave on loan.

Arteta said that the club only wants good players to join this summer. It’s a good policy, and it’s helped the club get where it is in the league. Still, people will ask if they didn’t hurt the potential of their season by not maybe lowering expectations, especially when it comes to players like Tielemans. The latter never impressed the club enough to make an official offer.

This weekend, Arsenal plays Manchester United, who have won their last three games. One of the two teams’ winning streaks will end on Sunday, and if it’s Arsenal, the wrong end to the transfer window and dropped points could make things a lot worse.

I thought I was the only one who noticed this , so I just kept quite cos I know almost everybody just wants to add somebody to the squad and most people are mothering Tielemans. I mean Tielemans didn’t even impress me as a fan in all of the Leicester matches I’ve watched this year thus far; he looked like bang average to me .

I get the whole hype of West Ham’s Rice and most times I watch him I’m impressed with what he does for the team. The same cannot be said for Tielemans, as in I won’t pick Tielemans I’ve watched this far over anybody in our current Midfield at all.

Are you comparing tielemans with rice?
Is tielemans a DM
Is he better than xhaka?
No one said he must get him by force, when we raised the DM issue spy said if we get tielemans he can replace partey which everyone disagreed with
Majority wanted him to replace xhaka but since he's untouchable and found a good form we all let the tielemans hype died

We never said compulsory they must add bodies to the squad we only complained on where we are lacking which a blind man can see that
Another question is do we ever need viera?

This is not the season when we should be unpredictable. We should be competing at a consistent and high level if we are to make the top 4. We can’t afford any slips.
Sorry it's a misunderstanding. What I meant by unpredictable is not being inconsistent but rather that they may see our players like they are still kids and learning whereas the boys will shock them. We saw how Saliba changed the defense line with his surprise performance, I expect that someone like Martinelli will shock Dalot and whoever is in their defense just as he did Fofana against Leicester.

Hmmmm... If na caution no problems sha but the length of these injuries are troubling.

God knows I'm afraid if anything happens to Saka sha. I mean, no real threat at that wing. I remember against Fulham when Martinelli and Saka switched wing when we were looking for the winning goal. Omo, both Martinelli and Saka wasn't at their explosive best cos they couldn't beat their man effectively and weren't even a goal threat. Arteta have to change them back to their original wings before they could be very effective again. It makes me wonder, how will our right wing be if unfortunately something happens to Saka.

We just need to be proactive against Man u as you said, but we must watch our back
I commend your good observation but you didn't capture the reason for the switch. It was tactical and it worked. Arteta switched to a back 3 and used Martinelli and Saka as wingbacks so they switched positions. After we scored Tomi was introduced and we switched back to 4 defenders, and the wingers went back to their original positions.

Nah, try to rewatch the match again, they still shifted to their original positions before the second goal. During the switch, there was a time Martinelli cut inside and took a shot with his left foot which didn't carry enough power and accuracy. Immediately after that, they were switched back to their original position. .
If you remember vividly towards the end of the game (before the 2nd goal), Martinelli played a good curling ball, but Palhinha used his head to deflect it out wide for a corner. Where Martinelli played that ball was from the right.

And yeah, we switched to a back 3 with Saka and Martinelli playing wingbacks then later to a back 4 when Tomi was introduced. Arteta is really learning in his tactics

Lol, real oloriburuku him be

Paul Tierney is to us what Anthony Taylor is to Chelsea in big matches. I now see the valid reason why Dav.ep was saying he's expecting both a red card and a penalty in that game.

God pass am

If ETH wants to leave it late in the game for them to win by introducing subs, then that's really bold of him. I mean, this is arsenal that tries to score early. Well let's see how it goes.

We don't have much squad depth laidat again, but I hope Eth continues with the winning team that started the last 3 matches
They'll have a slight edge in the middle if no Odegaard. If ESR is available (doubtful), he and lokonga will be the minus cos only Xhaka can effective work against That midfield Man U are bringing (Casemiro, Bruno, whoever).

We use wing
They'll use middle

Make they sha no do introduction for Casemiro the way they did for Nunez o grin

I have a gut feeling that Casemiro will start. ESR, Sambi and Xhaka is too lightweight especially defensively.

We need Odegaard and Ramsdale oo

I’m not comparing the roles of Rice and Tielemans; I know they play different roles on the pitch . Please read my post again.

What I’m saying is that I agree with what I bolded in obaigwe’s post . Tielesmans has not shown enough on the pitch that he deserves to be signed by arsenal . He’s not shown he’s better than our current crop of midfielders , so I understand the club’s management sentiments of refusing to sign him cos they plan on only signing players that will improve the team better than they met it.

I only talked about rice because ever since there’s been hype around signing him I’ve taken my time to watch him and I’ve seen he’s actually playing well unlike our own Tielemans that seems to have regressed . I hope u get it now?
