The part of your story the marveled me was that a fellow Nigerian betrayed you. It's really sad. Truth be told, if I see another Nigerian outside the shores of Nigeria, my very first reaction would be mistrust cos we Nigerians are capable of anything. If we can be wicked to ourselves in Nigeria, then you can only imagine what we can do to ourselves outside of Nigeria. Dont get me wrong, am not saying that there are still no kind hearted Nigerians out there, am just saying what my initial reaction would be if I encounter another Nigerian in another country. All the same, am thankful for you that you survived such ordeal and that you are good now.

The bad Nigerian was in a tight fix hence what he did.

Bad situations will make you take wrong decisions if you are not strong-willed.

Not excusing his wicked behaviour.

Libya to Italy - Nigerian man makes U-turn as he sees the sea he is about to cross

He first of all asked people to pray for him that he is about to embark on a journey to cross the sea from Libya to Spain after spending few months but Omoooor, he immediately had a change of heart and said he is never going to cross the sea because of its size and water cheesy grin

Your story is really touching. I have heard & read of similar tragic stories such as this that elicit sympathy.

I keep saying it, all the stupid people shouting “Japa out of Nigeria, Japa to Abroad at all cost” on Nairaland front page are stupid, senseless, vacuous secondary school children who have never left their parent’s house for a day and who do not understand how the world works.

Personally, I cannot count the number of acquaintances that I know since 1999 till date who have died untimely in their stupid quest to “Japa out of Nigeria” for greener pastures.

I am not mocking anybody. It’s just that I am allergic to stupidity.

You do not have any relative abroad who can take care of you. You do not have enough money to sustain you abroad. You do not have any connections abroad but you want to Japa at all cost because you think Nigeria is worse than every other Country on Earth.

Well, by the time you Japa into your grave, you will receive that sense that have eluded you since birth - by force.

Continue taking & following the advice of some stupid illiterates on the internet.

I’ll just make it brief, I was in my early 20’s, my friends talked me into the journey but I didn’t know they were not travelling with us until the day we left Nigeria.

I didn’t have much information about the journey but because they told me it’s easy and fun I left Nigeria with them.

We were first held by rebels in the desert for 28 days, mind you I left Nigeria Feb 3rd 2009 and I got to Libya in March.

The owner of the uncomplicated building we were living brought the police to arrest us 4 days after I got to the house, some guys were arrested but i and some other guys escaped, we ran into the cemetery and slept there till 6AM.

I found a Nigerian who offered to allow me stay in his house, few days later I told him that I got a connection to cross to Italy and I will be living the following day.

The following morning this guy left the house and locked everyone inside, he returned in the evening with 3 guys, a Ghanian and 2 Nigerians. The moment he entered the house he pointed at me saying this is the boy before I knew what was happening they stated beating me asking me to follow them. I resisted and fought back, the landlord heard the noice, he came knocking so the guys quickly ran away.

The following morning this guy asked me to pay him $300 before he will allow me leave, I said you should have said that instead of bringing people to beat me up. Then I gave him the money and left his house to the camp from where we were to be taken to the sea side.

The same night we were taken to the sea side, when we got there we were ask to sit on the floor and not make noice, about 3 minutes later a small balloon boat came and was taking us 30/30 to the big boat, I was on the 3rd batch, few minutes after I entered the big boat, we saw boats coming towards our direction behold they were coast patrol.

The person that was to sail our boat told everyone that we will all die instead of him to allow the police arrest him then he zoomed off, the police chased our boat till they caught us when we were almost out of Libya territory.

We were arrested and taken to prison on Sunday and we broke the prison on Tuesday and escaped. We were chased all night……. Na long story bro I hope I get to document all that happened on that trip one day. I lost my left eye as a result of the beating I got from the guys that were invited to beat me.
If u guys want to japa out of Nigeria,,,japa legally.. don't risk your life because u want to eagerly leave the shithole Nigeria,,, remember that you only live once..

Oga have you heard the word “adventure” before? Have you heard the words “ exploration” or “discovery” before? Those Europeans who took risks on ships to discover Africa, Asia, America, etc, were not stupid. They did not have relations or friends where they ventured. They developed friends and raised families. Today you enjoy social media because others took the risk centuries ago.

Now if you are not bold enough to take the risk, do not castigate others who are willing to take the risk to make their lives better.

The way Nigeria goes, or even the rest of black Africa, is it not necessary to japa in search of better lives; especially now that you are young and able? Even your leaders send their children abroad and leave them there.

Bros, abeg leave japaists alone.

U sit at the comfort of ur home and call people stupid illiterate as if u get who u help.

I want to asked u a question, have u seen any young person who is not doing well in Nigeria, and u helped him to start doing well and that person have been helping others to be doing well too? If yes, then u have ur reasons to say what u said, but if no, then u don't know what u are saying

Let me tell u something, jand and Africa nor near at any level for this life at all. Na lack of information and too much hurry hurry dey make people go dey fall victims for jand.

Do u know that our fellow black African's are the ones making life miserable for other Africans over there in Europe and America's? Even in Libya, Nigerians, Gambians and Ghanians(mostly Nigerians) are the ones commiting all source of attrocities to their fellow country man over there

I know many people wey frustration for business and life carry enter that Libya road, and by God grace they were able to cross to Europe and they are all doing great things for themselves today. Things that would have been unimaginable for them if they were still in Nigeria up till today.

I don't say u shouldn't advice anyone, but don't sit at ur home and start calling people stupid for trying to get a good life for themselves. After all, na the yeye people wey say them nor go ever vote for good people to take over government dey trigger it more and more.

How will people open their two clear eyes for this modern world and vote for someone like buhari to be their president? Is only that one not enough for the sensible ones to leave the country for the ones who voted him?

The person that was to sail our boat told everyone that we will all die instead of him to allow the police arrest him then he zoomed off, the police chased our boat till they caught us when we were almost out of Libya territory.

We were arrested and taken to prison on Sunday and we broke the prison on Tuesday and escaped. We were chased all night……. Na long story bro I hope I get to document all that happened on that trip one day. I lost my left eye as a result of the beating I got from the guys that were invited to beat me.[/quote]

Bro. It's because you're in a stable mind that is why you can comfortably type all these. Blame not the Nigerian guy, if your survival depends on how Smart, cunny, wicked, mischievous you're. You won't even let anyone tell you otherwise.

What happened to him happened to me but because I traveled prepared, I wasn't beaten as I bought my way all thru from Kano to Niger to Tamereset to Duruku to Agadez then Tripoli. All the camps we stayed, all were controlled by Nigerians and Arabs. Girls were being r*ped on a daily as men are beaten to almost death.
So imagine someone that has been in Libya for over 4 years and he sees you as a means to his chances of crossing or returning home. He will even kill you to collect your money and facilitate his movement.

Thank God for Life. That journey is the biggest foolery in my entire life. I came back alive after 7 months in a foreign and hostile land. Spending over 16 days in the dessert trekking and surviving on biscuits which you can't comfortably eat because it dehydrates you.

Na story for another day jare.

Sorry Sir.

I feel for you. I pray and hope you're in a good condition now.

...why are Nigerians hostile, harsh to themselves abroad? More than eager to betray each other?

You're right. That Nigerians below 40yrs were banned from Dubai are due to the nefarious acts they are known to commit.

I remember my brother telling me how fellow Nigerians raided and robbed their hostel.

Too bad.
