In a bad soil,when do we decide if either to use raft foundation or pile foundation?

I think the amount of floors you want to build will determine the foundation adopted......if just a floor you could opt for raft.....more than then you might have to do pile....but overall the soil test report should advise on the type of foundation to be used

Soil test will suggest the suitable kind of foundation to be adopted based on the load of the proposed building.
