I want to say a big thank you for all you do on your thread. I got two job offer and am confused as to which to choose, both companies are foreign companies.

Company A
HQ is in West, has presence in two African countries
Pay is 150k

Company B
HQ is in Asia, it's a start up in Nigeria power sector
Pay is 200k

Which do you think I should choose?

it depends, most Asian countries are mainly into trading or construction especially China. I would advise company A because American firms have good opportunity.

Whatever job you chose doesn’t matter. The best job you can ever choose is investing in yourself and developing your skills to the point where you can get any other job in your industry of choosing with little effort. Make that your sole job.

Information's you provided are too shallow.

You have to look at future prospects of roles you will be taking-up, and also put into consideration career growth.

Please go for A... Atleast the company is tested and trusted.

Since B is a start up company, you don't know if they will pack up in the next couple of years.

I will only choose B if I have the intention to work for few months, save money and start my own business.. but for a long term plan.. I will go for A.

Talking from experience

Asian connect is better!

The pay is better!

The offer staff exchanges!

Asian affliated companies increase salaries often!

Africa ones sabbi over utilize and abuse staff

I worked many years for a start up foreign owned company and I don't have much to show for it except the field experience I got.
They woke up one day and got us fired after they have gained enough ground in the country.

Whenever the company starts expanding they will advertise for experienced hands to come and be your boss instead of promoting the pioneers, the only way you can grow financially is if you are a local shareholder in the company or you work for them for a period to gain valuable experience and resign to join another company.

You can reapply if there's a new opening in the future and they will feel it is more profitable for them to engage you again since they won't be training you and you are coming back with added experience from outside to a known territory.

Don't ever think of building a future with start up that you are not a shareholder

From experience I may suggest you go with the established company

Other factors that include, transportation, other allowances apart from salary, ur own interests, job security among others.
