Most people have been clamouring for Saka to rest, this break will bring a much needed rest when EPL resumes. I just hope Arteta won't start him In our match against PSV
Think about it this way
Do you think European matches will hold too in England next week?

I think Marquinhos will start while Saka will come from bench. All these talk of rest nor too make sense as they usually have up to 3days to recuperate which is enough. In fact if they rest too much they will have to spend more time in the gym to keep fitness.

Of course it will hold since nothing concern Uefa or FIFA concern wetin England dey do. Also, it's not as if it was even Govt policy but it was just footballing Fa that decided to go on a break to commemorate the late Queen.

If they decides not to hold it on Thurs, Uefa will surely give us zero points and -3 goal difference in that match

Well he's a young guy and he's played alot of minutes. It's not as if he's around that 24-25yrs(peak years) but he's just entering 21.

We need to take care of him considering the kind of minutes he's playing so that one injury doesn't do his body bad. While gymming and all is good, it's different from the rigours of real matches played.

. Look at the big contrast between Ben White and Zinchenko. We need Tomiyasu more than ever biko.

Take a look at Gabriel Jesus heat map, it's really scary. How he manages to have the most touch in opposition box as well as this heat map tells one the kind of hardworker he is. What he's really lacking now is just understanding between him and the wingers(Saka and Martinelli). Once that understanding grows with more game time, he'll be more scary — but not to us cool

I was opportuned to watch our match against Man u again and this time without emotions and here are some notable things I got from that match that made us lose(strictly attack wise)

1... Our frontline lack understanding with Jesus' runs and movement, while Jesus haven't really understood our wingers too. There was a situation that after Saka dribbled past Malacia in the box and was looking to create a goal scoring chance, while Jesus ran towards the goalpost for a square ball for a possible tap in, Saka decided to do a cut back and that was how the goalscoring chance was gone. Exact same thing that happened against Fulham. Nketiah beat his man on the rear, Jesus made a dash towards the goalpost for a possible tap in from a square play, Nketiah did a cutback..... Chance gone!!!

2... Indecisiveness and lack of ruthlessness in front of goal— There was a situation Saka made a defence splitting pass for Odegaard inside the 18yard box. Odegaard had the chance to shoot on goal but because the ball fell on his right foot, he was indecisive so he had to wait on Saka to make a run from outside the box to inside of the box just to give him a pass. Man u defenders read the situation and covered up Saka— chance gone.
Even in that same sequence, Gabriel Jesus was available and unmarked for a one time pass and shot(from a cutback) but Odegaard didn't spot him.
Another example is the overload of Zinchenko and Martinelli on Dalot. Zinchenko with the ball, Martinelli was looking to underlap towards the goalpost for a possible one-on-one while Zinchenko played the ball wide.

All these happened in one match due to lack of understanding, indecisive and/or ruthlessness in front of goal. And it isn't only against Man u it is rearing its ugly head.

I just hope the frontline work on their understanding and decisiveness in front of goal and our level will increase a notch higher.

With more game time, they'll surely understand him

You could have said saka instead of the frontline because against Manchester United martinelli and Jesus combined alot
And other matches too

There are suggestions to introduce Nketiah to the first eleven because of his partnership with Jesus.

Though I think it will affect the long term plan

Who is even thinking of that??

Is it that people don't realise that *backups* are very very important and that it's dangerous to put all your eggs in one basket?

And also, who do they think will drop out for Nketiah. Saka abi Martinelli? Lol

LoL... I remember your posts even though I was not posting on the thread then. You did marvelous work sustaining the thread when most of the regulars stopped posting here....

What changed the tide and made Arteta survived the axe was the coming of Odegard on loan mostly, then Arsenal had long stretch of wins and came from bottom half 13/14th to finish 8th. Arteta survived the harmer but Arsenal was not in Europe
due to those many earlier loses.
So he rewarded him with the captain's armband

I think he should try our traditional 442
That made us formidable during the title winning days

You see this is part of the biased double standard I am talking about
Our star boy is yet to come to party this season instead of you to say it as it is
You wanted more from our top2 performer apart from them we have xhaka and odegaard

No one is saying you should criticize just say as it's
If saka step up his game I am sure Jesus and Gabriel will benefit
IMO Jesus especially have tried to integrate saka but he's always found wanting

I am not sure Arteta is conversant with that formation. He better stick to what he knows.

I loves a single pivot that's for sure.

Apart from the Man United game Saka has not turned up (we lost). While Nketiah has been showing strong performances off the bench and even in Europa with goal and assist.

While I don't support the change as it will affect us long term, I see reasons why the call was made.

I'm not even criticizing yet, just pointing out what they need to improve on. Moreover, most of our attack have been mostly on the LHS than the right coupled with the fact that he(Saka) is still blending to understand Jesus' movement. I don't think there's any course for alarm concerning Saka cos he isn't even selfish, his last two games have been very commendable and his has just gotten his goal which will give him more confidence.

Looking at that heatmap I posted sef, you'll see where most of our attack is concentrated and why Saka is even somehow limited.

So even If it's only man u game he turned it, you feel the reason for the call is valid only 5-6 games into the season??

I mean, if it's too early to call arsenal league winners or contenders, why then do you feel it isn't early to even think about dropping Saka for Nketiah? Why are we so so impatient for most of these players especially when they've shown on numerous occasions they have it in them?

I know there's something like "any underperforming players should be shown to the bench" or sort but something you guys need to realize is that there are some players who have earned the right to play and play their way into form. No matter how bad/poor Saka plays, 5-6 games is too small to start thinking of benching. It doesn't sound right one bit.

And the worst of it all is that he's not even that poor the way you guys are making it seem

This issue sef don dey enter London based clubs.

Liverpool UCL match is due to be played this week but somehow Chelsea and arsenal own is in doubt (esp arsenal own that is confirmed)

We're playing Brentford or Sunday but it's by 12pm, while Chelsea won't play cos it's beyond the 2pm time.

I guess it's more due to the security since Buckingham palace is situated in London than the issue of honouring the late Queen

Those are what I checked before concluding the match might not hold especially when some parties are disrespecting the dead queen

Omo, I didn't even think of that sef.

Thank goodness deh didn't even postpone this Brentford's match, else it would have been worse.

I'm hearing that they're planning to substitute the postponed PSV game either with the Man city game(on Oct) or with the Carabao cup game with Brighton
