As the 2023 general election gathers steam, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irepo Local Government Area (LGA) of Oyo State, Micheal Oloyede, alongside many of his supporters have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Oloyede, his supporters, and some Social Democratic Party (SDP) stalwarts in Irepo LGA defected to the ruling PDP.

The decampees made the announcement at the PDP general meeting held at (Ward 05) in Kishi, Irepo LGA, Oyo State on Saturday.

The defectors, who claimed that Barrister Bayo Lawal’s selection as Deputy Governor of Oyo State was the reason for their decamping, vowed to support all PDP candidates in the upcoming general elections in 2023.

They maintained that the appointment of Barr. Lawal as the No.2 citizen of Oyo State has continued to strengthen the party in Irepo LGA as he was generally well-liked by his constituents and people of Oke-Ogun region.

Honourable Bakare Kareem and his supporters from Gaa Kantepe also left the APC.

The decampees were promised inclusion in all PDP activities as legitimate party members.

Some will still defect to LP, APC and it goes on.... Same people.

Election day is coming, all these transfers, hired crowd, one million march etc amounts to nothing. The 2023 Presidential election will be ethnic based so we already know the winner

Defection to PDP isn't the problem.

The problem is that the candidate for the PDP was tagged a well known thief while he served as a vice.

As a president, who knows the motive!
