Tinubu Will Starve Off Eastern Port? It is Capitalist Fact by AlexBells(op):
Politics is a very crazy game however the people needs to filter off the information, propaganda should be understood but the people who are primarily impacted needs take extra observations.

The truth is that whether Tinubu would adopt the APC template of neglecting sea port infrastructures in the East remains an entirely different question.

Talking about what would be done, let's talk about what's being done. The Lekki deep Seaports is a state funded project which is under some shared model between Lagos state and some private firm.

Now I'm not directly judging but the essence of capitalism is monopoly, insinuating that Tinubu would starve off Eastern ports is not a propaganda to me it is a capitalist fact.

No investor wish to see competition, the revitalization of the Eastern ports would mean the less patronage of the billions of investment in the Lekki deep sea ports.

The people in the east should continue to close their eyes, If I were in Tinubu's shoes, I shall shut down even the federal port in Lagos because Lekki deep Seaport contributes directly to my personal pocket.

What you see taking place is much about capitalist interest becuase any shrewd monopolist knows that Revitalization of Eastern ports would kill Lekki deep Seaport a project gulping billions of investors money which I'm certain Tinubu has a stake in.

Just look at Dangote, do you think if he becomes the president that he would let government Refinery be fully functional, he would rather privatise the government refineries and buy them out through the back door.

The Easterners better get the message or see it as a propaganda. To me this is not about the Yorubas or the Igbos, this more about few monopolist in power trying to cage all of us in serious discomfort.

Honestly that's the truth. Tinubu will never allow any seaport in eastern part
Function.
And for the yorubas that will think tinubu is doing them a favor should think again with the new lekki seaport, yorubas especially lagosians are in for a shocker because tinubu is in charge

I don’t want to give out my knowledge freely because Yorubas don’t see how much the concentration of infrastructure especially ports in Lagos have lead to the infrastructural decay in the In the regional west

I discuss about this a lot with one of my Yoruba friends and I ask him how do you build a seaport dominated by wares from China, Germany and elsewhere how would indigenous industry thrive, let him continue killing Yoruba economy they think the port is a blessing, last time Aba is a clothe, shoes and others manufacturing center yorubaland have zero indigenous industry that seaport currently is avenue for neocolonialism but they won’t see

The same country Obi bring his imported merchandise from without your Igbo father wailing ? How do you compare bring heavy machinery that can not be source anywhere in Africa to Peter Obi bring ketchup n Bama etc that is readily available in virtually every state in Nigeria. You igbos need to be mad to reason the way you do I swear.

For almost 22 years now, the Eastern port has not been making the numbers Lagos port is making and Tinubu was never at any time the president.

My question is that why did Jonathan not revive the port for all these years?

How much is even the purchasing power of the said Eastern region? If you import through the Eastern port, then you will have to transport to Lagos again for your market because the highest purchasing power of this country is in Lagos.

Some Eastern port are active, they are just not able to do the numbers of a far greater Lagos.

I’m making my argument not based on emotions, the west would continue to be an importing economy so far as Lagos port is operational and the only viable Import port city

Peter Obi will import even chewing stick you know why because the west would always been an import based economy so far it is the only functional port.

Take for instance the price of a shoe in Lagos a shoe sold at #5000 would be sold at #6500 in the East, this mean indigenous shoe manufacturers in the East us at +1500 advantage while indigenous shoe manufactures in the west is at disadvantage since China imports have reduced the value of shoes as such that local manufacturers can’t sell cheaper.

You see the case here, so opening up Lekki port is another avenue for China, India, Lebanon to come in since you have nothing to export and chances of even building such is weakened through porous seaports, only few people enjoy…while locals suffer tell yourself, how have Lagos seaport benefited the average Yoruba. Your local economy have been killed before your eyes

You inadvertently pointed out one reason, out of many, why the political-economy in place since the late 60s has cheated the east and disproportionately favoured the Yoruba-west! And yet you still wonder why there’s agitation in the east, and why the ‘okoros’’ are complaining!

See a fool can’t ever be a perfect villain don’t think they hurt the East by stopping the ports, that’s actually what they intended but if the ports were open as much as we wanted, Aba couldn’t have emerged as the indigenous manufacturing capital, same as Nnewi as a hub for mechanics and other indigenous manufacturing, import priority ports kill local economies.

Ibo people stop coveting other people fortune. Because Yoruba have it does not mean Igbo must have it.

Is there true sea in Igbo region? Are we the one that told God to make your land landlocked?

Your argument is just like Yoruba crying daily because the SS got crude oil which is a gift of nature. Should we now start crying that the government must deposit crude oil in Oyo too ?

Lagos has been the center of commerce even before the amalgamation of this enclave in 1914. Our Yoruba ancestors worked hard for the land and her commerce. Most of Lagos today was Western region, Ikeja, Apapa, and etc.

Stop comparing yourselves to the Yorubas. If it’s very easy to build a viable seaport in the SE, Jonathan would have built it in his 5 years of governance and even PDP would have done it in their 16 years of rule.

How is that Yoruba or Tinubu fault? Do you guys think!

Got what lol, what do you export with your port lol, Lagos port is an open window of neocolonialism, AlaIgbo has at least 35% of Nigeria’s proven crude, over 40% of proven coal and about 90% of proven gas, we are the energy capital of not just Nigeria but Africa lol, leave south south out of your mention you we know our National boundaries

Bro in all the existence of Igbo and Yoruba, there has never been a time the Igbo people have more prosperous land than the Yorubas.

Not in 1600, not in 1800, not in 1900, not in 2020, and will not be in 2099. We are not your freaking mates.

While my ancestors were building empires, expanding, trading with foreign people, and etc, your ancestors are still in the bush playing with monkey and engaging in cannibalism. Do we not have the records?

Stop freaking comparing yourself to us, we are miles apart and if not for Nigeria that reduce the growth of the Yorubas, do you think any tribe will even be able to measure up to us for comparison?

Your ancestors did not tell you about Western region growth?

Western Region what happened to it, I have discussed this situation extensively and I have always told my friends who are Yorubas, although Yoruba may have more vast land, Igboland is Richer. Is your vast land bigger than Niger and Chad lol? Coming to waters? There are two classes of national waters. Inland and territorial waters. AlaIgbo can only speak about Inland waters because territorial water is a subject of a sovereign which AlaIgbo is not so Nigeria territorial waters is Igbo territorial waters ask that question again when Nigeria divide as for inland water

The principal water in West Africa (River Niger) did not touch any part of the west lol, AlaIgbo have more inland water than any other nationalities in Nigeria a goldmine for hydro electricity lol, see currently AlaIgbo and Yoruba is not in same sentence when it comes to resources of crucial energy value lol, gas especially and inland waters AlaIgbo is king

Your argument reeks of lies, half-truths, arrogance and pride! How can you sit there and lie through your teeth….implying the Yoruba in general, and Lagos in particular, haven’t primarily been sustained and reached the level they are today without the oil and gas (of which the largest onshore deposits are found in ALAIGBO), population and investments from other parts of Nigeria!? If you were so independent of the rest of Nigeria, why haven’t you turned say Ibadan and Iragbiji into another Lagos; but more to the point…..why are you clinging on to ‘one Nigeria’ like your life depends on it!?

Dude, besides being blessed with lots of hydrocarbons, Igboland is also blessed with direct access to the sea! I should know….i’m from ONELGA in Rivers state! With the possible exception of Ogba, the rest of my local gov’t are PURE and PROUD Igbo!

I see the mere thought of Alaigbo being a ‘dot in a circle’ and ‘landlocked’ is what gives the hateful, covetous and bitter likes of you, Buhari and any Ijaw partners you may have, an erection! That ‘Igboland is ‘landlocked’ is a lie you bitter haters dreamt up to try and feel good amongst yourselves….that you have access to the sea and the ‘okoros’ don’t therefore you land is more viable and prosperous than theirs!

It has also not gone unnoticed the effort your allies, the Ijaw (of Bayelsa and maybe a few in Delta state) have put into trying to make everyone think they own the entire coastline from Ondo to Calabar! They probably sat down and looked at a map to see how best to hem those ‘okoros’ in and deny them access to the sea. They saw Ndigbo have access to the sea via Obuaku….passing by our Opobo cousins and bursting out into the mighty Atlantic Ocean! They saw this, and this was when they decided to ‘Ijawnise’ parts of Akwa-Ibom too! shocked I remember few days after Buhari made that unfortunate ‘dot in a circle comment, he hosted Diette-Spiff and some Ijaw leaders from Bayelsa. They almost looked like they were gonna give themselves high-fives….both grinning from ear to ear and looking pleased as punch! It’s easy to join the dots and see the bigger picture! This is part of the reason why i was once a proponent of including all ethnicities in any new Republic emanating from the east….but have now changed my mind and wouldn’t want to share any new country with Ijaw…..esp’ those from Bayelsa state! They a bit too similar with the Fulani and some Yoruba in their antagonism towards Ndigbo, and look like they would gladly repeat the sabotage and backstabbing carried out against Ndigbo during the uncivil war! You all are welcome to yourselves!

Don’t judge the actions or inactions of the Buhari gov’t in the south-east and south-south against what GEJ did or didn’t do! There are so many things that are ‘not easy’ that the nepotistic and bigoted Buhari is doing in and for the north…chief among which are the AKK gas pipeline; Kano-Kaduna railway; efforts aimed at Lake Chad; etc! These are in addition to the numerous ‘not so easy’ other projects that’ve been sited in the north by past northern military heads of state….like multi-million dollar dams; Kaduna refinery; the multi billion dollar Ajaokuta steel industry; etc! So you see, where there’s a will there’s a way….especially when it comes to using other peoples resources to develop ones own region! wink

What are you exporting through Lagos, Onne and other Eastern ports account for 90% of crude export, the record of exporting through PH and Onne started with Enugu Coal and today mostly crude export, just mention a single thing exported through Lagos sea port lol.

Do you export cars, clothes, most of our food export is through land borders most times we don't even export most of our food as we end up consuming nearly everything we produce even our cattle are transported through land so what do you export through Lagos Seaports? Just mention one thing.

When a Seaports becomes import prone it kills local industry that's the issue especially when such sea port is connected to a cheap labour and energy. For instance China is a place of cheap labour raw materials and energy so China can produce a phone at $11 dollars and mass shipping would have the phone arive Nigeria at $11.9 dollars, local manufacturers in the west trying to build phone due to higher labour and energy may end at the production price of $13 it means phone importers at Lagos can still sell their phone at $12.5 and discourage local production.

Now the Lagos process at $12.5 an Easterner buys at $12.5 in Lagos comes back to East and sell $14 you then see that local manufacturers can manufacture in the East at $13 and still compete with China and other foreign products still making gains. Just replace the phone with clothes, we are not manufacturing phones becuase of the technical demand require for such which Most part of Africa currently lack. I hope you get my point now, importation is killing the West not helping it especially at the long run.

Come and take which port, why can't west build another port in Ondo, I want Yorubaland to change don't think I'm your regular Tribalist, I make my investigation and form my opinion the Lekki deep seaport is uncalled for in Lagos, since I think Tinubu is not even a native of Lagos, he should have moved the new Lekki deed seaport to Ondo, it would serve as export channel then Lagos as an import Chanel

The over concentration of infrastructure in Lagos is detrimental to the Yoruba country, I take not of the fact that Nigeria is more like European union than an actual country. So the Yoruba country needs to change the import burden it is currently carrying where Yorubas are not even major stakeholders in inland and upland distribution

Rubbish.

On the west african coast, next to Tin Can and Apapa, the port in Cotonou is the next most profitable. A new port is planned for Badagry to help load balance across the border.

SS ports are not a competition for ports in Lagos. Cotonou should be the one scared because of planned port in Badagry, not SS..

OP, stop raising topics you lack knowledge in.

What system of Government is Benin practicing and what volume of their export is channelled to other countries, majority of the imports in through cotonou makes it to Nigeria now, the system of employment in Nigeria yoi have the ports in Lagos remitted to the federal government, including the custom boss and head of ports authorities are mostly Hausa/Fulanis cause it is federal I hope now you see the concern the huge revenue goes to federal government with filled with nepotism and tribalism is it same in Benin?

Then as regards the market volume, Benin is a very small country compared to Nigeria which should show you, Cotonou is an export/import ports they import the cars and other wares and then export those other things to Nigeria and others paying their local customs and other clearing fees, in Lagos however every fee including customs and clearing is centralised and majority of inland shipping are controlled by the Igbo traders who go as far as Niger and Chad to sell so you see the clearing and custom duty neither goes to Yorubas nor the inland shipping carried out by your people at the same time it kills your local production a lose lose if you ask me
